Comps in Vegas based on local casino play?

Is there any way I could get some comps in Vegas based on my play at my local casino? For the last 6 months I have played a lot all at my local casino. I have the highest status you can get there with the rewards card, and I have a local host as well. Is this something I would talk to my host about or perhaps reach out to one in Vegas?

Or is my play at my local completely irrelevant in getting some comps in Vegas? Also I live in Canada so I don't know if that's a factor either? Just figured I would ask here and see what some of you think? Thanks. ‎

 

IMHO, totally irrelevant unless your local casino is associated (partner with) a casino in Las Vegas.

Perhaps your host at your local could help out, maybe he has an associate that's a host in Las Vegas . . . .

 

It's definitely not connected to any Vegas properties and I doubt that she has any connections in Vegas. I could send her an e mail but I'm sure it's a long shot. I didn't think it would be likely but I figured I would ask here because you never know unless you ask.

 

If your local casino not associated with any Vegas casino, then the answer is NO.
Why should they send you ( and your money, or more properly, their money) to Vegas?

 

Sadly, everyone here is right. Unless your local casino is CET, MGM, or one of the other big boys, they have no way of verifying your play. Probably best to just pay standard Joe-Schmo rate and try to get it comped (in full or in part) on the back end.

 

I do have some decent rates through Mlife but I want to give the Cosmo a try next trip. I think I'll stay with Mlife but play mostly at the Cosmo and see what kind of offers come in after that. We played at Cosmo one night a few years ago and kept getting the 2 comped night offers but they stopped obviously. I do wish I was closer to Caesars Windsor but it's a few hours away and we don't go there too much.

 

Well, if Caesar's Windsor is a few hours' drive for you, the only casino that would offer host-type accommodations that I can think of would be Fallsview - or maybe Rama.

If I were in your situation, I would do one of two things...

1. Ask your host at your current place if they know anyone in Vegas who (as a personal favour to them) could hook you up based off of your host's word that you're going to play there like you do here. The worst they can do is say no. The best that can happen is they know a high-ranking host at a prominent strip property who can give you the treatment you're accustomed to. Other posters in this thread are correct that there is little (if any) motive for your host here in Ontario to incentivize you to go play elsewhere... but the fact is, anybody with half a brain who works at a non-Vegas property knows that people go to Vegas as a matter of course, and when people go to Vegas, they play. So by denying you any benefit they could give you in Vegas by just calling the right person, it's not like you're suddenly going to decide "I don't wanna go to Vegas anymore". They might as well provide good service to you by doing what they can... because then if you had a good time, conceivably, you'll "owe them one". Additionally, whoever their host friend in Vegas might be will then owe your Ontario host one... and they can cash in that favour to their benefit later on. Personally, I can't see how this is any less than a win-win.

2. Try and get some details of the meaning of what tier you're at in your current players club (e.g. amount of play required), and take it to a property in Vegas like the Plaza, which offers instant competitor tier-matching (to give you an idea... http://www.plazahotelcasino.com/blog/royal-rewards-you-might-already-be-royalty-and-not-even-know-it/). Now, the rules for this one say that it's for Vegas properties only - but rules are negotiable and money's money. You coming to them saying "I've put in $2 MM in play at my local casino with $30k theo and here's the paperwork to prove it" says a lot more than any schmuck off the street who says "I'll play lots now give me a free meal". Tier-matching is offered on the basis that if you'll bet x amount on each roll of the dice elsewhere, you'll do the same for them. Many talk it up big, but you're walking the walk in such a way that to give you privileged status is a relatively low-risk investment of comps and such for them.

On the thread where Kevin from Cosmo posted about matching offers I believe someone stated they reached out to him using a local casino offer. A lot of people (myself included) have reached out to him and booked offers there already. It's at least worth a shot imo.

Now if you played at Caesars Windsor, on the other hand ...

 

It's possible that you can use your home casino offers as leverage with a Vegas host (offer matching). It will likely be tougher than it would be if you were using a Vegas casino offer though. Some casinos known to match offers include the Plaza, Golden Nugget, Cosmopolitan and SLS. I've done offer matching at both the Plaza and SLS. You can usually find host information on the casino's website.

 

I think the urcomped route is the way I will go, thanks for the suggestions and feedback.

 

Raptor - maybe check with your local casino and see if they sell your information to other casinos? I can't remember exactly, but I wanna say his happened to me too... But between casinos that were in Vegas and not associated with each other.

I'm not well versed in the whole comp thing though... Trying to learn more how to maximize them by reading on this forum, which has so much info!

 

What casino is this? There are casinos locally in Chicago that have been able to comp you into Vegas casinos even though they were smaller with no Vegas properties. But it's something they do for only their highest rollers. You should ask a host if they have an arrangement like that you can't count on it paying off for you.

 

Obtain copies of your win/loss statement for the last 3 years. I'm assuming you have some sizable losses if you're a top-tier cardholder. Tell your current host you're thinking of going to Las Vegas. A really great host might do the legwork for you, but if not, ask your current host to tell you your average daily coin-in. Go to the web site of some Las Vegas casinos, look for the link to Casino Credit. Call Credit and ask a few questions about opening up a line -- what's the minimum, any issues with a Canadian bank, how long does it take, etc. You want to sound legitimately interested, but finally tell the credit guy you'll think about it, that you'd like to speak with a host first and talk about potential comps. The credit guy will likely know the better hosts and hook you up with one of them, maybe even connect you on that call. When you talk to the host, you want to get across 3 pieces of info -- your typical annual loss, your average daily coin-in, and the size of the credit line you might open. The bigger the better on all of these, but be realistic, don't stretch to levels you can't actually meet. The casino host probably won't commit to anything but can give you a much better picture than just "we'll evaluate on check-out." S/he might commit if you commit to a specific credit line. Ultimately it is up to you, so be selective and ask around. But if you are armed with specific information, and you get in touch with the right hosts, you have a much better chance of getting a promise up front.
