Hunter, I've read through a few of your previous posts on this board but do you know of any resources (web-based, book, video series, etc.) that would match up with what today's comp environment really looks like?

I read comp city before my Winter visit (only my third time to vegas) and from what I saw the book was just so out of touch from what's really going on.

Any advice for someone one willing to do the research but needing a push in the right direction?

    Thanks.

The comp environment changes drastically based on the level player you are. Good example of this is larger players could care less how many reward credits they have because they don't even break the tip of the iceberg on what their comps are. I've never read a book on getting comps so don't really have a frame of reference to work with. The level of comps you get are directly proportional and a function of your avg bet, time in action, and game played. Time of year also has an effect. Free play offers are lucrative during slow periods but non-existent during major event weekends such as super bowl.

Skip the books and read through this website. I can honestly say that there are a lot of folks on here that really know what they are talking about, in some cases more so than me. This site is a wealth of information. Keep in mind the tone when reading posts though. Some folks might have a skewed sense of their comps due to circumstances they aren't communicating.

This is a pretty broad topic that most would agree could take up days discussing, so if you have any specific questions feel free to ask.

Hunter, thanks for any info here..My question is what your take is on the future of the Rio? I hope it remains a CET property but if it does not,I lose my favorite of the past 14 or so years..No interest of staying on the strip and will just spend more time at Boyd-off strip..I am a platinum low-roller but make sure a comped room gets enough play to justify it.Thanks for your thoughts.

I don't really have an opinion one way or the other. I think all of our properties provide a unique variety, which in my opinion is one of our best benefits as a brand. Haven't heard anything about it's future though from an internal perspective.

Hunter, thanks for all that you do on this board. (Long time reader of your posts, first-time poster.) Could you dispel the notion that CET is bad for table-game players (at least, as compared to mLife)? One of the things that makes CET very attractive to me is that play at one CET property helps with comps across the board at all properties. But as a low-end black-chip player, I've heard time and again that table-game players get the short end of the stick at CET, which gives me some pause. (And it's why I opted to go with mLife at the outset.) On the other hand, mLife's comp-only-where-you-play policy is a little frustrating (as I'd like to casino hop, but feel chained to one casino). My host has given me great comps off the back end (although not exactly the most talkative guy), so my eye is starting to wander towards CET.

Not sure if it matters, but I usually play anywhere between 4-8 hours a day at $100-$200/hand blackjack, along with craps from anywhere between $150-300/400 for a couple of hours a day, not including odds.

Hunter, I noticed that CZR in Las Vegas will count all of your play at all of the properties as one total play. If I stay at the Cormwell, play at Harrah's and go to the Diamond Lounge at Caesars it all goes down as 1 visit. My question is why they don't do it like that in Atlantic City? When I visit Atlantic City they separate each property. If I stay at Bally's-AC and eat with comps at Harrah's-AC it will register as 2 trips and destroy my ADT score. Why don't all of the regions follow Las Vegas' example?

    Hunter,

I'm just a low level player but got offers for up to 5 nights and some FP and/or Resort credits. Last time i was in Vegas was in September 2013. Starting January 1 this year all offers ended and no new offers at all were added. Probably this year or early next year I want to visit Vegas again. Is there anything I could expect or by new policy I won't qualify for any offers and will only receive backend comps?

I am sure folks would argue otherwise, and it is always a matter of perspective, but if you were to truly compare oranges to oranges there isn't much of a difference in how different companies treat their table games players. I know of some instances with reward credits between us and Cosmo, but in all honesty it is pretty standard across the city with a few variations. The biggest difference in ratings are going to occur between table games and slots, which generate a lot more play and comps. Also need to take into consideration what table games you are playing. You might have one customer thinking they are getting screwed when talking to another table game player, but one player might be playing roulette and trying to compare it to pai gow, or BJ to pai gow.

I am not so sure that is the case with AC, this would be the first and only time I have heard of this. There might be some other circumstance we aren't seeing at first glance. I'll have to check on that.

At the two year mark customers are considered inactive and will rarely receive new offers until they get some play back in the system. First trip back for you after a few years I wouldn't expect anything upfront, only on the back end. Once you get reestablished you will start to see offers repopulate.

    Hi Hunter,

I am usually getting 3 or 4 free nights with a small fp from CET. Stayed at Ballys last trip and will stay there, Paris or PH in May for 4 nights. Is it worth it for me to get a host when I come down this Spring or is getting the standard offers all I should expect?
