Ok, this is a thread be got from the DVD Box Set thread. Who are your favorite characters, lines, scenes and seasons?

    I'll start.

Favorite season was season four. The kids carried that season. The only season I didn't really like was season five.

Favorite line, from Lester Freamon: "Hey, hey, hey. A life. A life, Jimmy, you know what that is? It's the shit that happens while you're waiting for moments that never come."

Favorite characters: Omar and Brother Muzone. Slim Charles too. His line about "we fight on this lie" was one of the best on the show.

Favorite scene. Simply too many to narrow down. Although the scene where Omar comes into court and tears Levy a new one was memorable.

Thanks for starting this thread about the best show ever. Season 4 is my favorite too. The whole arc of those students and how the cycle of violence traps them was tragic but awesome. Omar Little is a timeless character. I liked DeAngelo Barksdale too.

Favorite line: "It's all in the game." (Something I have to remind myself when losing at the casino)

I think season four is everyone’s favorite, as it is mine as well. Three is also very good. Many consider two to be a low point and I would agree with that on the first watch through. However, when you watch the series again you grow to appreciate season two in a whole new way. Favorite characters are Bunk, D'Angelo, and of course Omar. “You come at the King, you best not miss.” I like Slim Charles too. When he’s first introduced he seems like just another thug, but we end up seeing some real depth to his character. I also love that Namond Brice got a happy ending, but still have nightmares about Dukie. Oh yea, Pryzbylewski was also a great character.

    Great thread.

Favorite season is also Season 4. Just unbelievable form the first to last episode.

Favorite line is from season 1 when the detectives are investigating Kima's shooting and Lester shows up with the soda can with prints. One of the homicide detectives asks him what division he is from. "Pawn shop". That response and Bunk's reaction were priceless.

Favorite character. Too many to list. But like everybody, I love Omar, Lester, and Bubbles

Favorite scene is even harder to nail down. As mentioned above, the trial scene with Omar is great. But I am a sucker for the emotional scenes. So its a tie between asking Stringer where's Wallace, Randy crying and shouting at Carver in the hospital after his foster mother has been burned, Bubbles breaking down in the hospital with his sponsor after trying to kill himself, and Bubbles finally talking to his NA group about accidentally killing a boy.

    Best show ever

You're really bringing back some memories here. "Where's Wallace?" gets me every time. It is the best show ever and I think it gets better with each rewatch.

I liked season 4 but favourite season is probably 3 for me.

    Best line is

I was also partial to "what the f*** did I do?"

Favourite scene was the opener to season 5 where they get a confession from the kid by having his buddy walk by with MacDonalds, and then using a photocopier as a polygraph. I'm also partial to the Omar-Brother showdown in season 3, and basically the whole episode after Kima got shot in season 1.

Also my favorite line and character. The ultimate crooked politician.

Many of the scenes between McNulty and Bunk while hanging out at the railroad tracks getting drunk.

Snoop - One of the greatest characters ever. Delivered some classic lines.

I loved how they tried to get a shot of the lawyer's legs in many of her scenes.

The byplay between the boys while hanging out at the orange sofa in the courtyard.

Omar, Bubbles, wow, too many to remember. The guy who played Omar was also in Boardwalk Empire.

Hard to believe, but McNulty and Stringer Bell are both Brits.

I have to watch this again!

I have watched the entire series four times and I always notice new, little details with each re-watch. This thread is making me want to watch it again now!

Come on Breeze! As a Sopranos man, you gotta remember Omar in the Sopranos (at least the same actor). The thug whose daughter teaches Jackie junior to play chess while he hides out after shooting someone at the poker game! I always liked that little moment in Sopranos

Which made it really funny in season 2 when he had to play a Baltimore cop going undercover as a John with a bad british accent.

Yeah, that was hilarious. Listening to him talk on the commentaries in his regular voice is a bit jarring the first time

I was born and raised in Baltimore so I've always had a special fondness for this show, even if it does make Baltimore look like a cesspool. My two favorite scenes are not considered classics by anyone but are favorites to me because I have family members in them. My cousin, Norm, worked as a PA on the show for the full run, eventually moving up to a Writing Assistant position. In season 1, episode 9 (Game Day), when Stringer and Avon are watching a local high school basketball hotshot, with the intention of recruiting him for the East/West basketball game, my cousin, Chris, is the white kid getting abused and dunked on mercilessly. I still tease him to this day about that but I'm jealous that his brother got him that role. In season 2, episode 24, as Ziggy Sobotka is being led to his cell as part of a perp walk, my uncle Norm, is one of the criminals walking behind Ziggy in the perp walk. This is particularly funny as Uncle Norm was a physical education teacher for years at a Catholic school in Baltimore and is one of the nicest, most giving people you'd ever meet.

Totally agree. With no NFL and six weeks until March Madness, it might be time to watch the entire series again.

Cooler, yeah that scene with Dukie was gut wrenching.

Another great scene was in season one when D'Angelo was teaching Wallace and Bodie how to play chess, but the real lesson was to Bodie about something else entirely. I loved Bodie's response, "Unless they're some smart ass pawns."
