Hello my fellow degenerates, i'm back......LOL. I had open heart surgery 3 weeks ago, my aorta valve was so tiny that if i didn't have surgery i would be dead in about a year (or 3 weeks in Vegas)....LOL.
I'm home now and the nurses who come out to the house have said i'm doing really well and getting stronger every day.
The nurses at the hospital noticed that my plan is to go back to Vegas in June, if not then the Fall. I told them that i have been going to Vegas even before most of them have been born and that even if i only go for a week this year it is still worth striving for.
I almost had a countdown timer for my life, but hopefully my "new" life will give me 20+ years (or about 40 more trips to the promised land).

As far as my last trip to Vegas this past November, i started to have shortness of breath in Vegas which concerned me. At first, i didn't think much of it, just an inconvenience as most days i would be fine. I decided to go to the hospital a week into January when my shortness of breath perpetuated in more times than not. My body is still sore of course ( now i know how Frankenstein feels), but i'm getting stronger.

I stayed at Flamingo in November, not my cup of tea, i'll probably stay at the LinQ when i return, i have some good rates on my calendar throughout the year. I just didn't like the vibe of Flamingo (except for Margaritaville). I had to change my diet to low sodium (so long Heart Attack Cafe), but eating Grenola Bars, Oatmeal, more fruits and veggies, and fresh Chicken, Turkey (instead of frozen Burgers) isn't so bad after all. Now, if i can find a low sodium buffet in Vegas i'll be a happy camper.

I still collect rewards points through Social Rewards, so that is still happening.

I'm sure various people in walks of life who are in the hospital with a serious condition, like open heart surgery, have goals to strive for upon leaving the hospital and getting stronger.
My goal (with the exception of seeing my friends and family once again), was being able to go back to Vegas sometime this year, probably only once this year, but a small concession considering the alternative.

Some people in this group mentioned why they continually go back to Vegas despite the changes made there, like Clubs and less gambling revenue on the Strip etc.
But in my case, since going to Vegas since Dan Tanna cruised the Strip in the late 70's, Vegas encompasses the total package that anywhere else doesn't. It's something i can't explain, it is what it is. And hopefully some day, many more years from now, a friend or relative will scatter my ashes next to my Dad at Red Rock Canyon.

Thanks Sonya and others welcoming me back, are the Bally's escalators/elevators working yet?

    LOL.......thanks guys.

What happened was the first couple of days in Vegas were for the most part fine. Then on Thursday i was walking the up escalator at NYNY to get across the bridge towards Luxor (the escalator wasn't working so i walked up the stairs), big mistake, i was hyperventilating and could barely breath. My feet also swelled up.
I finally got back to Flamingo, went up to the room for the night (it's still only 4:30 pm). Friday and Saturday were a little better because i just stayed close by (The LinQ and Cromwell). But as most of you know i'm an advocate on walking the Strip as much as possible.
My breathing got worse until i finally realized that something was seriously wrong. The doctors also had to string two veins together to help with breathing.
So i also have a major scar on my leg.

But now i can say i have battle scars from Vegas.......LOL.

As a fellow cardiac surgical patient I wish you well. I had CVGX5 (bypasses), on August 30TH, was out of the hospital on September 02. I had no symptoms, just caught on a routine cardio-gram. I was a walker and made it for our vegas vacation September 21st. Did have minor sob due to chest healing but other that took it easy. Sounds like your following doctor's orders. Try to get moving within tolerance. You got the big second roll so enjoy it. Take your meds,, walk and walk some more. Sound like your a positive person so keep at it. Wishing you the best. Al C.

    Thanks guys.
@PP........i had a mild stroke in 2011 (from stress, i don't drink or smoke), had some therapy and from 2011 to just before Vegas 2015, i was fine (couldn't drive, but could walk everywhere). I had heart monitors on me while i was in the hospital during 2011. The doctors never told me about my aorta valve. I thought i was fine with my heart then. The doctors a few weeks ago said they could have missed it (some technical reasons), but it sure would have been nice to correct the problem back in 2011.
