I practice VP online (no $)
Was just dealt a hand in DDB STP where I got 8x on the deal and then 10x on the draw for 18x pay...
Does/Can that happen in real play?

It sure can! But you were playing Double Super Times Pay not the regular Super Times Pay. DSTP costs 7 units per hand to play...STP only costs 6 units per hand to play.

right, STP = SUPER TIMES PAY, = 6 coins per hand. chance of Random Multiplier prior to the draw only.

DSTP = DOUBLE SUPER TIMES PAY = 7 Coins bet Per Hand. Chance of Random Multiplier prior to the draw AND Chance of Random Multiplier After the draw

Interesting, more snake oil added to the allure of STP. Thanks!

Definitely not snake oil, as the return of DSTP is roughly 0.25% better than STP, and 0.5% better than the identical paytable at a standard 5 credit bet.

    Obviously, volatility increases as well...

Yes! I have had it happen a few times...unfortunately, everytime, I ended up with junk!

Yes, you received the donkey punch from the DSTP. I have been the recipient for it as well.

I've pulled it off twice in a casino, which is amazing considering how much I play. I probably shouldn't even have one of them. A brick at Margaritaville, and this is the best I could do (Tunica Roadhouse):

Still hoping for the "dream hand".

Ahhh, Tring, what if you had played all five hands?
    (Sorry. Degen response)
The Master has responded to my thread! Yay! And now I will seek out the STP deal/draw X pay in a casino.

Eh 70 cents/round isn't really degen. I was mostly being a cheap drunk. Lol

But yeah, Double STP is a favorite of mine, and there are some places in Vegas with decent paytables.

    On strip,

Aria: BeeeJay Memorial Row 802 8/6 Bonus Deluxe (98.99%), 9/6 TDB (98.65%), 7/5 Bonus (98.51%), and 9/5 DDB (98.37%) for quarters+. The large couple seating All Star II machines across from poker room had the same games for nickels+

Cosmo: 7/5 Bonus quarters (near CliQue)

TI: 7/5 Bonus nickels+ (near Seafood Shack)

SLS : 7/5 Bonus nickels+ DSTP machines about 15-20 yards from center of porte cochere. 8/6 Bonus Deluxe on All Star IIs dollars

CET used to have 9/5 JoB for dollars (98.95%) in a few places, but most (all?) of those were downgraded this fall.

    Off Strip:
    M Resort: 8/6 Bonus Deluxe quarters+

And the best place to play paytable wise...
    South Point: 8/5 Bonus (99.67%), 9/6 DDB (99.48%), "Airport Deuces" (99.41%), 10/6/5 DB (99.38%) all for quarters.

And of course if anyone finds other good STP elsewhere, I am all ears!

    Thanks tringlomane!
I'm taking that list with me. BeeJay Memorial Row 802 is a must do.
I'll report back if I find anything decent at CET.

How does one find this row #802 BeeeJay memorial row? I've just started playing online at wizard of odds and would love to try it for real this trip!

It's a few rows in front of the MLife players desk at Aria. Stand about ~10 feet away from the players desk facing it and it should be on your right.

Very pretty and very jealous! ;)
