So reading a trip report(MGM -losing hope in humanity) got me curious as to other's stories.

My 1st trip I was playing a machine and didn't even notice til I was cashing out there was a phone sitting above the far buttons(In my defense I had more than a few in me). At the time I had a flip phone and really didn't even know how to turn this smart phone on.:evillaugh Now I would call and see if I could get someone to get ahold of the owner and they could come get it. But since I didn't, the machine was right by the entrance to the high limit room and I gave it to a suit at the entrance.

Second time at New York New York, there are a bank of machines I liked. There was a couple playing the one I preferred so I sat at the other end. I saw them leave and after a couple of spins I moved down there and noticed they left a bag with college books. I kept it close and had the waitress call security. Now I usually only run $20 maybe $40 thru and leave. Was thinking they or security would show up soon. I finished my beer and now got another waitress and again asked for security. By the time security finally got there it cost me $100+ to make sure nobody stole that bag. I hope the people got it back...

Let's hope you never find a bag of dope. You'll go through your life's savings waiting for them to come back.

Simply make a quick hand-off to the first staffer or security person you see. I've handed things over to bartenders before. There's no need to take up your time guarding an item.

I have handed left items to security in the past. No big deal. My only interesting story of this ilk, though, was in the CP high limit room. A huge guy and his wife were cashing out in front of me at the high limit cage. It was taking forever and I finally realized why: he was collecting approx. $400k in cash. Watched him drop it in a shopping bag and walk out of the high limit. I stepped up next to the window and noticed that the guy had left his cell phone sitting on the counter. He had just left the HL, so I snatched it up and dashed out the door to return it to him before he got away. As soon as I ran up behind him, it occurred to me that this giant man carrying a ton of cash might not react kindly to a stranger running up behind him. Fortunately, he did not punch me in the face and I gave him his phone back

I found a camera by the slots one day several years ago. I turned it in, and went about my way.

I can't fathom how many people just walk around the casino snatching things people have left behind. It must be a gold mine!

Last April we were gambling downtown and my husband found a ladies wallet on the floor right by the doors to Fremont Street. The wallet was so full of cash it couldn't be closed. He walked right up to a security guard and gave them the wallet. I really hope she got it back because it was a lot of money. On our way to the ticket machine to cask out my measly $22 voucher we came upon the $5 WOF so instead my husband stuck it in there. First spin nothing, next spin got the wheel and $1,195.00. I am now a firm believer of Karma!

    That is a funny story!

I always have the hardest time finding my lost money in the casino! :evillaugh (I'll be here all week folks.)

Once I found a phone at Cosmo, and brought it up to the security desk to turn it in. Ten minutes later an attractive lady came up looking for it and I told her were I brought it. She left without saying thanks...

We were eating at L'Atelier and the woman next to my wife forgot her purse/bag. According to my wife, it was Birkin and she told me they cost at least 15k. I'm sure my wife thought for a split second of keeping it herself. We gave it to the waiter and the woman came running back 10 minutes later.

This happened to My friend "S" who always goes to vegas with me.. He was at the airport in Phoenix years ago had to go to the restroom. Lady comes out of a unisex bathroom he goes in. Does his thing goes to wash his hands and there was a wallet sitting on the basin. He opens it see it is a women's wallet. It had probably 3k in cash with credit cards and basically her life in it. He looks at it closer and sees its john elways wife Janet. Of course he runs all around looking for her and finds her, gives it back and she gave him a simple ty and moved on. If he didn't find her he would have given it to security.

I've been on both sides of this. I'm a firm believer in Karma and it worked out for us.

Second trip ever to Vegas my wife and I are talking to another young couple at a buffet in the booth next to ours. We were both there on wedding anniversaries, so just comparing notes/plans/experiences. They mention they just spent about a grand on some very expensive cigars they were going to smoke that night in celebration. They finish and leave and a few minutes later we notice they left a Davidoff bag under the table which also had some cash in it. My wife and I sprint out of the restaurant to find them and return the bag. We happen to find them and return it all to them. We would have turned it into security, but for some reason I just didn't feel comfortable turning a bag with cash in it into the Harrah's buffet staff.

On a later trip my wife and I are completely obliterated one night. My wife loses her wallet with her ID, cards, voucher and phone. (turns out she dropped it on the floor) She is incredibly upset and crying, and not really thinking, I leave my VP machine to help her - walking away from a $2,700 voucher. A few minutes later my wife is at Security because someone turned in her wallet. I suddenly realize I don't have my voucher and I run back to my machine. Of course, there is no voucher there. Completely defeated I walk back to Security to tell my wife that while I'm thrilled she found her wallet, I have lost my voucher (and all the winnings we had had on that trip). My wife says "no, they have it!". Someone had seen me walk away, cashed out my voucher and turned it into security. It took a few minutes for them to verify on the cameras that it was me, but I got my voucher back. I remember there was a gentleman that claimed to have been the one who did it. Whether he did or not I don't know, but I remember handing him $100 just in case.

Even today writing the story I get a bit panicky thinking about how drunk and stupid my wife and I both got that night and how close to disaster our trip was. It very likely may have been our last trip to vegas had she lost her wallet and ID and I had lost a nearly $3k voucher. Luckily things turned out ok and we remain vegas addicts to this day - we just don't allow both of us to get completely hammered at the same time.

But it also gives me some hope that there are honest people in this world. Of course, all the cameras in a casino assist in that honest-ness, but still, it isn't always a sad ending.

Here is something that happened to me. What would you do? I have told this sorry here before so sorry to be redundant.

Many years ago checked in to GEEZERS. Was with 2 kids (step) (7 uears old) and the ex. Had two rooms adjoining. Got to the rooms unpack. As kids do they were in there room jumping up and down on the bed. I didn't care and was watching. The mattress started slipping off from all the jumping so I stopped them as I wanted to push it back on. Went to the bed grabbed the mattress and noticed something. I sent the kids into the other room. I told the ex I'm going to lift up the mattress. I lifted the heavy king mattress and she grabbed what was under it. A BAND OF 5k!!!!!!! (Might have been 3k I forgot now) I kid you not! 5k!
Now this was probably 23 years ago and 5k was a lot. Still is. It could have been there for years.
    What would you have done?

I try my best to be honest, but most likely I would put it in the safe and wait a few days. If no one came looking for it, my wife would make me turn it in. Lol

These stories reminded me of one, years ago my sister in law and her husband left a bar. In the car she realized she forgot her purse, he went back in and grabbed it then came running out just as 4 or 5 guys were coming in. They assumed he was stealing it, so they kick his ass but good. Broken nose and right arm, his wife stopped them but it was too late by then.

I've left my phone on the VP machine almost every trip at least once. Most of the time it's just me going to the restroom or change machines. Every time except once no one was there when I came back but my iPhone was still there. The one time someone turned it in to security and it was there and the security guy asked me to turn it on and put my password in. I did and he turned it over t me.

About 15 years ago my brother and I were staying at Mirage when we found some women jewelry in the safe we brought it downstairs and they took it and said thanks. The next day after we put some things in the safe and retrieved them, this time I found a couple additional pieces further back in the corner of the safe. Brought it down, the security guy didn't even say thanks. It didn't look very expensive stuff, maybe a few hundred bucks. My guess is the owners never saw it again.

I found a $10K man's watch in the safe when we checked into Caesars. Called security to come get it.

Once I spotted a large ladies purse tucked in between slots machines. I'd been playing there for a long time and knew no one else was around. I called security and they looked terrified of the thing. It wasn't that long after 9/11. "Are you sure no one was here? Someone might come back." They finally took it away.
