heading to vegas in late march, should I sign up for total rewards now and potentially do the social rewards thing I have read about or should I wait to signup when I get there? I just dont want to sign up now and them be like "you got some free play you must use in the next 30 days" or something Thanks in advance - - - Updated - - - the question goes for mlife and whatever other ones there are too. thanks
If you sign up online now, you won't get any sign-up bonus. You must do it in person in a casino to get those.
And this goes for any casino. MGM, Venetian, TI, etc... Always sign up in person just in case there's a new player offer. Usually won't find one on the Strip, but you never know. I think TI, Casino Royale, SLS, and the Trop have some sort of new player card offers, but that's about it. Wynn used to have one that got you a free buffet after X amount of points, but I don't know if they still do.
Years ago my gf signed up for mlife online and then when she went to the booth they signed her up as a new member so she ended up with 2 numbers assigned to her. It caused havoc with her online account actually oddly enough.
Well you cannot do social rewards without a TR number. So it may be worth to sign up for TR to start doing SR. Same goes for MyVegas. Now between now and late march can you earn all the much from Myvegas or SR, I would say probably not, maybe 1000 Reward credits on SR if you keep up with it, worth $10. MyVegas would be more time consuming but depends on how much time you got.
Thanks for the replies.. so what kind of sign up bonuses are there normally for signing up in person? I will wait for TR.. but I do have enough to get a room and some other comps via MyVegas so I'll be signing up for mlife but trying to determine if my wife's in-person sign-up bonus would be worth more than 3 comps we choose for her MyVegas... thoughts?
The Tropicana used to have a pretty good sign up bonus, not sure if it still is happening, but it was something like the First $200 on them if I remember correctly.
I think it is going on still. But you only get half of the $200 back on first visit other half in a month
No reason to start social rewards now might earn $10-20 by March. Keep in mind once you earn the $10 min for transfer to your account it takes 3-4 weeks for the transfer to go through so you might have a month to earn points. Although there are more points available when you first start out it won;t amount to much.
Sign up bonuses for mlife don't exist typically. There are a few bonuses downtown but that requires a coupon from the American Casino Guide.
I disagree if he could get $20 before going out there is more value in that than any sign up bonus tr would have [though often they have none.] And if his wife does sr. That's $40 in comps before they go.
If you are doing Social Rewards and MyVegas, sign up now. No reason not to. CET and MLIFE give very little for signing up in person. Also, CET rates may drop up to $5 or so a night for you based on a players card even with no history.
Thanks everyone for the tips! really appreciate all of the info =) - - - Updated - - - Would this be worth the 15 to buy? if so I can snag today.
I think it would, not only will it be +EV, but it will give you more of an incentive to explore and check out places you would not have seen otherwise.
It is a great book for first time members... if you actually go to the properties, and take time to do so. I got it this time and did. Not use it.... but a lot was useless for me. If you plan on going downtown or off strip.get it for sure
Check their website for the coupons and if you'd actually use them. The half decent ones are mostly for downtown and off strip places. The on strip ones are pretty lame. If you've never signed up for any clubs and end up downtown I could see it being worth it if you don't care about grinding anywhere specific.
We got our money's worth out of it, mainly on the downtown match play coupons. But it wasn't a clear value blowout. Worth it if you feel like it, but not a big deal to pass up.
You can get the book for less than $15. Last I checked overstock.com had the best deal on it. There are free play and match plays at gold coast and Orleans. Those alone will more than pay for the book and you can shuttle over from the strip from caesars for free.
