I was talking with a friend about doing a few hands at way above our bankroll just to see if we can get a "lucky royal" (can always hope)

if I do a couple spins of VP at a $100 machine ($500/spin) would that make me look bad because I'm being a hit and run player?

There are a lot of posts about people who do hit and run on table games and how that gives people a bad rep and the casinos dont like it, but what about hit and running slots or VP? is that still bad? is it as bad? if I did 100 hands of $100 VP but still got in 50k coin in, would a host prefer that, or would the host prefer that I play 10,000 hands of $1 VP for the same theo but less variance? (this is an extreme example)

I would never do big bets on the slim chance of a quick hit, but I'm one who can very easily walk away from a machine after a big win. :)

Is there a reason why you're concerned they wouldn't like a hit and run? If it's in addition to your regular play i don't see an issue. I've done a few high limit spins at the end of a trip which isn't my normal play. If it's hit and run at a place you don't normally play, who cares what they think? Like I never play at Wynn. I could care less they don't like a hit and run.

Im more refering to a place that I regularly play at. if its a place I dont play at normally and I randomly do a few spins, then I could care less. but if its a place I regularly play at then I would be worried that they would see me doing hit N runs and they might lower my comps or dislike me because of it

Hmmmm, not sure why a casino wouldn't like a hit-and-run if the coin in was the same. The only reason I could see why they wouldn't like that is because either A) the player isn't playing as much as they usually do, so there ADT is low, or B) because the player played a little, hit a big jackpot and then didn't play at all again after winning.

Well, at $500/hand, you better have at least 10K plus if you want to last more than a few minutes. You would be much better at a lower denomination where you can play for an extended period of time, or say a multi-line $1 machine.

As an example, if you walk into bellagio, and place 1 - $50,000 bet on blackjack or baccarrat, and lose, playing only 1 hand, you will not get much if any in the way of comps. If instead, you wagered $100-$500 per hand for many hours, and ultimately lost the same $50,000, you will get much more in comps. The formula for determining comps takes into account - Your average bet, the house edge on the game played, and the amount of time you spent at that game.

Hit and run players only hit and run.

They play an hour over 4 days because they won.

Adding extra play on top of your regular play isn't hit and run.

    Not true.

You'll always get 10% back in comps and 5% discount at those higher levels regardless of how many hands you played.

I've literally lost 50k at a casino in 3 hands before.

But the casino doesn't care whether you do X theo in 10 minutes, or 4 hours at any theo amount? Or is this only more applicable to higher theo amounts?

I've read many threads where others say want lower rollers to play 4 hours a day, particularly when I read table game threads. I believe it shouldn't matter as theo is theo, but from a variance perspective, the casino probably prefers the 4 hour player.

$100 machines don't exist because of the overwhelming demand for them. They'll like you just fine if you play them.

    I also don't understand why you think a casino wouldn't be ecstatic at you doing n $500 pulls with n > 0.

But yeah, generally they should be welcoming you with open arms.

is that for all high level play?

like if I walk into ceasars palace and drop 100k on player, but banker hits. and I lose my 100k, and then I dont play anymore, they will still give me 5k cash back and 10k in comps?

Max was 3 coins on the machine and paid 800 for 1 for the royal (2400 for 3, equivalent to 4000 for 5, 8000 for 10, etc). A few machines are set this way at 3 coins max. Particularly at the $100 level. The game's payback betting 3 here was 100.76% max. A big mistake by Caesars. It was downgraded to "Not So Ugly Ducks" (99.73% max) in a couple of days.
