I'm booked 3 nights coming up at the cosmo. The lady on the phone told me they will charge $150 per night on our card for the security deposit, so $450 total for 3 nights. That seems high to me, isn't it usually like $150-$200 per stay?

That's right and on par with other hotels on their level

    Palazzo is $150 per night

Absolutely correct! We booked 6 nights, so our "hold" on our card was $900. Not really a big damper as our credit line is high. And they wipe it clear after you check out of the hotel. We never saw it on our bill.

Sorry if I sound like a broker record.... but...

If this is on a charge card, and assuming you are not running close to your limit... it has no effect on anything. No cost. No issue. No nothing. You never even see it on your monthly statement. You will see it online.

We never really care how much they "hold". No big deal.

Now, a debit card... another story. Often an UGLY story.
