Isnt anyone here interested in the PB $500m jackpot? I got losers, and hoping no winners as I want it
up to $700m+ for a new record, even beating MM.

Some Lotto dude said after the PB changes, it will take 12 years to get up to $1Billion jackpot. But, if no winners for next 3 drawings we might get $1B!

Rollover tonight. Initial estimate for Saturday is $675M. I'm guessing it will get up to $800M by draw time.
The changes they already made are:

69 white balls (giggity) and 26 red balls. This reduced the chances of a jackpot hitting for a single ticket to: 1 in 69!/64!/5! × 26 = 1 in 292,201,338

If Saturday rolls over (~10% chance I'm guessing, depends on sales), I think we're getting a billion on Wednesday.

Spent $4.00 on two tickets. Why two tickets? I have no idea. Total impulse purchase. I have never won a buck on a lotto game and have no expectations of ever doing so.

At my job --- yesterday ---
We had 17 players ( pool ) buy one ticket each.
I looked at my copy ( of all the tickets bought ) ---
and I remarked, to others, "I hope no 70's numbers are drawn, cos we don't have
    ANY on a ticket !"
I then asked a co-worker, "Hey, pick a number, any number....."
    She picked, #29.
    I checked ALL SEVENTEEN tickets......NOT A SINGLE ticket had #29 !!!!!!
    *
Just shows ya.....how tough it is to get ANY numbers drawn !
    *
    I bought 3 personal tickets.
    *
I'll buy about 5 more for the next drawing ----
I like to buy each one, at different locations.

On the national news I like how they try to hype how long the odds are. Like "you're more likely to be hit by space debris..." That's utter bs. I've heard of plenty of PB winners, victims of space debris, not so much...!

I rarely buy Powerball because I'd rather have a better chance of winning a smaller amount (like SuperCash which I play every day), but I bought a PB yesterday thinking if the jackpot is so big, could maybe win more if I only got a few numbers - wrong. If I'm reading ticket correctly, even if the jackpot is huge & you get 4 out of 5 numbers plus the Powerball #, your winnings are still capped at $50,000. If you get 4 out of 5 but no PB, you get a whopping $100. Now I remember why I don't get them. :D

I read an interesting article about Powerball odds: http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/new-powerball-odds-could-give-america-its-first-billion-dollar-jackpot/

Odds are about 12% of no winners on Saturday night with a $750 mil jackpot.

That said, the payback on your money is about 9% (probably less now that they added more balls).

Had a buddy get the Powerball + 1 number last weekend. It paid a whopping $4. The exact same payout if you hit the Powerball only...makes no sense.

I think I was hit by space debris sometime in the '70's, so I've blown my chance.

Played 15 sets of numbers with the multiplier, won $36. Will roll that over and play same tickets for Saturday.
    Annuity or lump sum?

Paid $30 for 10 rows with the power play, got $12. I bought from 2 separate stores, so for Saturday I will probably stick with the one "winning" store.

Though depends on how much I spend, since I might spend $45...

Not sure if I would have enough trust for annuity...

I joined a pool at work for last night's drawing, and another today for Saturdays. In the highly unlikely event that the group wins, I sure as hell don't want to be the only fool still here working come Monday.

Husband and I spent $40 on 20 tickets personally, and won back $11. One Powerball hit and one 2 numbers + Powerball.

I'm philosophical about it - the money I'm spending is buying me a day or two of daydreaming about what I'll do if I win. One of my favorite things to muse about. Just imagine if a person or couple was the sole winner on Saturday, the kind of Vegas trip you could take!!!

I would take the lump sum, since I think I can make better investments that will yield more than 2% a year.

There are some pretty dang smart math people here, so hopefully they can crunch the numbers for us.
