The vast majority or our Las Vegas trips are for 10 days.

Since 10 days is a lengthy trip sometimes I just feel like relaxing. This entails sitting in my room and watching TV, reading the paper, or surfing the internet on a tablet.

Sometimes it feels like an odd thing to do in LV with all the excitement going on.

Does anyone else just relax in Las Vegas?

One of my favorite parts of my solo jaunts to Vegas! When my husband tags along, there is a lot of pressure to keep him entertained all day and night, so i end up wandering around and doing things I normally wouldn't do.

Typically my trips involve meeting up with several other people, but we don't spend all day together. The girls like to sleep late, some of the others like pool/cabana time, shopping or poker. Sometimes I like to put that Do Not Disturb sign on and just lounge around the room.

Some of my favorite times are sitting in the room, looking out the window, knitting something or reading an actual book and thinking "This can't be normal." :haha:

I like to take some time to relax, even if its just 20 minutes or an hour. Typically I will go to the room, download photos taken to that point and may pick one or two and process them to share on the web. I don't do TV in Vegas, hardly do it at home, but I do like to just sit an look out the window when I have a strip view and take it all in.

Absolutely. I hate trips where I have something booked seemingly every moment. I like to be able to lounge.

My past trips has been gambling/nightlife.. but starting this year, I am more looking forward to a conservative gambling and relaxing. If you haven't already, drive up to Red Rock and hike some of their trails. If you're going in the winter, i suggest teh Calico Tanks trail. Its short, and on a good day the view is spectacular. I brought a bottle of Dry Riesling and OJ. Once at the top cheered to the New Year with the lady, and light lunch. redrock.jpg

Grab a day rental (you can find one for $8 economy) and drive to Mt. Zion, another great spot with gorgeous views. Or even drive up to the West (correction) rim of Grand Canyon (1.5 hour drive) or a quick drive to hoover dam.

I typically go for about eight days. I'll usually take a day trip somewhere. Last July I didn't feel like a day trip so I went to The Orleans and caught the new Jurassic Park movie.

Aside from simply being better equipped, we like nicer accomms because we do linger, and not many things are worse on vacation than having shittier beds and linens than you do at home. Uck. I don't know that we've ever watched much TV in Vegas -- or at home for that matter; well, we did have a few trips when Terri was getting her MBA and she did movie-binge/sleep/movie-binge/room service/repeat. But we aren't typically in a rush to simply get out of the room. And our gambling day might only total at most two or three hours. So instead of relaxing let's say we linger and are busy in some combo. Golf, spa, outdoor activities, food food food ... all across the valley. Save the bit of gambling in Vegas that's how we travel in general -- nice hotel or rental, great food and drink, shopping, spa, outdoor adventures, good slumbers, exploring, cultural amenities.

Almost every trip. And I guess the definition of relaxation varies, at least for me. sometimes that means just kicking back in the room and watching some TV or taking a hot bath. other times it means planning half a day at the spa. But every trip that is more than two nights, I always have some down time

Me too, I like doing different things in town. That's why I have difficulty hitting 12 hours of play over 7 days...have to do UTH for 3 hours on the last day.

We typically do Vegas 2-3 times a year. I've found that we now spend more time in our room, chilling, hanging out, TV watching and NAPPING, yes you heard that right!! LOL. I think a lot of it we're getting older (NOOOOO) and we've spent a lot of our earlier trips sightseeing and checking out the things we wanted to. Somewhat running out of things to do too

We always do some hang in the room time. Few drinks, snacks, stupid tv, etc.

Then, because it is Vegas, we can go out and have fun - and be rested to do it.

    I'm with you.

I've been more than 30 times and some of them have been nothing but party and repeat that for a few days. Getting older, I really now love to hit it around the end of Sept - beginning of Oct so I can enjoy the pool in the day and football at the books in the evening at the hotel I'm staying at. LOVE hanging in the books and running up to the room to grab a fresh one.. After that is over, I like to to screw around with everything else till whenever.

So I don't mind hanging in the room for a while to party and the such. I used to check a fully stocked cooler on the plane and have it ready to go upon landing. But, I'd rather just get it locally now. Less hassle.

I relax a bunch in Vegas actually........I am (slowly) rebuilding two houses and a project-aholic so when in Vegas I do a lot of room relaxing, no plumbing, sheetrock, paint, or wiring that stares me down like when I am home watching television.

This is not to say there isn't a fair amount of time spent doing degenerate things, but I do regularly make a bunch of bets in the Book then watch the games in the room.

I get to sleep in when we're in Vegas! It's the only time there are no kids, no phones ringing (most of the time) and no pets to take care of. After last year's trip to Canyon Ranch Spa we decided to go to Vegas a day early so we can relax an entire day at the spa! It's only $40 and so relaxing!

I will spend one night of the trip just relaxing in the room. I order room service and just relax in the room. My job stresses me out and I need my time to just breathe and calm down

Absolutely. On anything more than a three day trip I have to basically take a night off. I always bring my table and I have even watched a movie or two in the room. I usually head out to an early dinner and retire to the room by about 8pm. I watch a movie, get a good night sleep and I am ready for more action the next day. The first day I get there I go really hard, so after three more days of that and my over 40 as** needs a break.

I try to relax now and then, but after about 20-30 mins I can't handle it and head back out to a table somewhere!
Unless getting company counts, then I'm all about relaxing :wink2:

Yes, I agree, relaxing is important.

    I have a rule. No 5 hour energy drinks past 2 a.m.

    I take a 3 hour nap every morning from 3 a.m. till 6 a.m. while in Vegas.

I plan on relaxing my next trip (solo trip end of March). When I was there for Thanksgiving 2015, We were up at 5 AM and went to bed at 11 PM. All day walking up and down the strip. I took someone who had never been before. I'm going to take it easy and do a spa day and take naps!

We have done this on nearly every trip. My wife is a morning person (ugh) so we are usually up early-ish and walking the Strip before 9:00am. It's actually a really nice time to be out as it's quiet and essentially foot-traffic-free. After being around randomly, after lunch maybe we head back up to the room and mess around. At some point after it seems I'm ready for a nap and will lay on the bed for an hour or so while she reads a book. Just relaxing with no schedule at all. Pretty much what vacations are for.

Other thing we like to do is sit in the room before turning in, sharing a bottle of booze with the chairs or couch turned out to the view, just taking the whole scene in. This is why it's so preferable to have a Strip view. To watch the city bustle at all hours, with the lights; I could probably do that for hours.
