Let me say first off that I am a long time lurker of the board and have gained some great info from reading here.
Secondly, I have never made a wager on a sports team at a casino but I believe Clemson is going to win and I will be in Vegas during the game and placing my bet there.
Would it make more sense to put 5k on Clemson+7 or go moneyline and take Clemson +230?
    Thanks for any insight.

First off, I'm not sure how you can talk about betting $5k and have never made a sportsbook bet in LV. If you really feel this good about Clemson and are convinced they are going to win outright then the SU bet is the way you want to go. Here is a good place to start to see which spot offers the best price: http://lvasports.com/current-lines/

Good luck to you and your Clemson bet. If I were you, I would not bet against Nick Saban. Having said that, I think Alabama will either blow out Clemson or Clemson will win a close game. So I would make the money line bet, because I don't think the 7 points will matter.

well, if you're convinced Clemson will win outright, bet the moneyline +230. $5000 would pay $11,500. Of course, it's safer to take the +7 because then you don't need Clemson to win outright. But if you take the points and the bet wins, you only win around $4550. So I guess it all depends how confident you are in Clemson winning and how risk averse you are as a gambler

UKF nailed it, math and logic-wise.

I would take the straight bet with the points. My .02 on your $5K. Good luck, have fun, and don't forget to ask for your drink tickets

I also think that the nation has the hots for the Roll Tide and if you were looking to actually make that bet, I would wait until all the money pours in on Alabama and pushes the Clemson line even higher. Good luck whichever way you chose to play.

How about you bet $2K Money Line and $3K (+7)?

Where are you watching the game? Me and my buds will be Downtown.the whole weekend.

    Thanks all for the insight...

adbynot - I arrive in Vegas on the 10th so I will not be placing a bet until then and will follow your advice of holding off as late as possible.

Bungadin - Taking the pops to Vegas and we will be at the Fremont.
I do like the idea of spreading the bet, gives me something to think about.

Clemson seems to be on a mission but this Bama defense is the best we have ever had. Agree with Pay Triple analysis. Good luck with the bet ,,,,

I agree with PT, wouldn't bet against Saint Nick in a title game. Good luck to you, though!

Maybe Saban's experience from last year makes a difference...that's your call.

I think the split on the line and ML is the best advice. Just be sure that if you win the bet on the line that you go home with plus money so you can feel good about the game if Clemson fails to win, but covers. You could also peel off 10% and bet on Clemson for the first half to further split the action.

BTW...the line is at 6.5 in most places now.
