Stayng at Harrah's for the first time. Anything we should know?

**** Changed reservation-moving to Flamingo FAB strip view! I'd rather be guaranteed a strip view vs High Roller. Hoping for an upgrade as it's really my birthday on the day we check in. *** All this info is still appreciated since we may end up at Harrah's next trip!

We arrive in March during madness. Anything we should know about Harrah's rooms, special location to ask for? We have a CARNAVAL 2 queen room comped.

What places do you eat inside Harrah's? Sometimes we just want to grab a quick bite to take to the room. Is the buffet any good?

We usually stop there to play for a few minutes each trip but haven't really spent any time there.

Any favorite machines I should visit?

 

The rats are big but they're also friendly, so you can pet them. Kidding.

Buffet is average. For quick eats to bring back to the room, there are several places at Casino Royale next door, including Cinnabon, Footlong hot dogs, White Castle, Something that they claim is pizza and Subway. For Applebee's pricepoint with a southern flair, Toby Keith's something or other is upstairs at Harrahs. It's convenient and it's well, convenient. Ruth's Chris is the upscale steakhouse at Harrahs. Make the walk down to BLT at Ballys or Gordon Ramsey Steak at Paris.

The Oyster Bar at Harrahs is outstanding. I've been several times, and the food is top notch.

Fulton Street Food Court is a great place to get a quick bite and you can take it up to the room. Harrah's got rid of their boring cafe and put in a multi-station food court with different style dining options.
Not sure about location. What type of view are you looking for? The carnival tower basically has 3 views available. 1) High room floor with strip view(Mirage or CP or Pool) 2) Lower room floor with Mardi Gras Twr / roof top view
3) High Roller View .

Personally if strip view is important I would try to get an odd numbered room on say floor 22 or higher. Optimal strip view rooms are going to be 17 - 23 ( 23 is end of hall and executive suites I believe).

Don't let Nick Papageorgio scare you. Harrahs is nice and CET is slowly putting money in the place, the casino floor is much nicer, dining upgraded, and once they start remodeling more rooms will be a sold mid tier property. Also has the best diamond lounge IMHO.

 

This is where I usually stay. The Oyster Bar is kind of a hidden gem. Ruth's Chris is a chain but it has a great view of the strip that for some reason Harrahs doesn't tout. The buffet is ok, not great and the food court is really good for quick food. No traditional food court fast food, though. They also have a really good breakfast they serve in the food court area which is pretty reasonable.

 

I am staying there twice this year, haven't stayed since 2011 but now the COMP status has dried up at Bally's so giving the old girl another spin. I always thought the rooms were as clean and comfortable as CET mid range gets, we even got the small balcony once!

 

I like Harrah's but the cigarette smoke in the casino is pretty bad.

 

That was a def turn off for me. The low ceilings don't play well with Marlboro's.

 

Yeah. I think all the old hotel/casinos have this problem including Caesar's.

 

Just be sure to ask for a room not overlooking Carnival Court. I love my stay at Harrah's as you can't beat it for location. If you use the bus system, the stop is right outside heading north and right across the street at Mirage heading south. Love the location as it is also very close to the Linq and Casino Royale if you want to mix up your gambling a bit. Also next door at the Linq is Guy Fieri's Vegas Kitchen & Bar, which we found very good. If you're really hungry you can check out Hash House a Go Go.

 

We have a high roller room booked as it looked to be the best option I had when I was booking the room. I can't stand being at the end of the hallway. I'd rather be close to the elevator.

The Oyster Bar sounds like a place to try for sure! I've heard a lot about Hash House but didn't realize it was right there. Sounds like we have some good, cheap eats nearby.

Are the rooms nice and clean? I'm used to the Orleans. We stayed in a Bally's jubilee room last year and liked it but didn't like the casino. I've given up on finding a less smoky casino. Seems like they're all super smokey or smell like some perfume that I'm allergic to. I live on sinus meds when we're there and for about a week after.

We need to stay on the strip for the last 3 nights. It's so much more convenient as we are trekking to the convention center every day.

Also a Chipotle and Mickey D's between Harrah's and Casino Royale. Busiest Denny's in the world next to Casino Royale, decent breakfast. Toby Keith's does not have a bathroom in the restaurant, it is down the hallway toward the casino. Lots of fun sitting at the bar and watching people look in alcove after alcove with no success.

stayed in Mardi Gras tower , and had a balcony
faces north toward Mirage and the roof but nice to bring in fresh air into the room
not sure what wing it is but I have had it twice!
downfall, was room next to us, was using marijuana , apparently for medicinal purposes per the maintenance guy i asked (nevada allows it so the hotel doesn't fuss over this )

Hash House is at Linq - not at Harrahs. But likely about a 4 minute walk for you tops. Just don't try to hunt it down onsite.

For casinos without as much smoke I actually find Paris to be pretty good in the CET family and Linq since it was gutted & redone so the air system is better. At Ballys, staying away from the pit area helps as the machines themselves are not normally fully occupied. At Harrahs it's not as bad if you are playing right inside the front doors either - same at Flamingo - the doors are open when the weather is good & that helps with ventilation.

 

We're definitely going to check out the Linq as we have not been there yet. I'm sure we'll spend some time at Flamingo as well since both are so close. We are women traveling alone so we tend to play late into the night where we are staying. Seriously considering switching to the Linq because it's new but I'd have to pay another $30 a night...

LOL! Yes, both married for many years. Just checked the TR calendar and switched to Flamingo FAB strip view for less money. Hoping for an upgrade as it's really my birthday when we are checking in.

 

I like the casino. I have had decent luck on VP there except for my last trip when I couldn't hit anything there. We stayed there last April and got upgraded to an executive suite. Loved the room. Can't beat the location.
