    My Trip Report

Happy Holidays everyone. Today I'm heading to Vegas with my wife and her parents. We've done this trip the last three years. The in-laws drive us to Vegas and stay a few days. They drive back to Phoenix and the wife and I fly directly back to Seattle.

We usually stay downtown, but we found a deal for 50% off at the Red Rock, so we opted for a bit of luxury.

The four of us are all low rollers. Mostly VP and a bit of blackjack. I hit my first Royal at the Red Rock a couple of years ago, so hoping to repeat that this year!

I've never posted a live TR, but the wife thought it might be fun to try. Hoping for some good food and maybe a bit of luck.

We decided to pick up tickets for Jersey Boys tomorrow. Stopped by the tix4tonight booth at Town Square Mall but forgot you have to go to Paris to get the actual tickets.

    Have a great time!

I stayed at Red Rock back in September & absolutely loved it. Out of curiosity, where did you find the 50%-off deal?

StringerHook: now that I look at our email confirmation it may have been $50 off, not 50%. I believe we just found a coupon code online somewhere. It wasn't a comp.

Played some VP at Rocks Lounge bar. Nothing too interesting. Cashed out down $20.

Wife hit aces on BP, which was nice. There was an interesting four to a royal hand that I'll describe later.

Next up is dinner at Salute, which is the new Italian restaurant here.

Dinner at Salute was very good. Started with the mista salad followed by the capellini. We shared a bottle of Montepulciano.

Apologies - photos are a bit dark.

After dinner I played a little VP with my wife, then headed over to Blackjack.

They had a few $10 3:2 DD tables so I sat down and turned $200 into $360. A nice run of positive variance -- only lost a couple of hands over the 2-3 shuffles I played.

We decided to call it an early night. Thanks to everyone reading and commenting. We're having a great time so far.

A quick follow up on the pre-dinner VP hand I mentioned earlier: we were playing at the bar and my wife was dealt a flush that also had four to a royal. She mistakenly held all five cards.

The guy next to her got very animated and said "if your first card on the next hand is the ten of hearts, then you just threw away a royal". I asked "What about the shuffle?". He said "Trust me, I've been doing this a long time. I know how this works". I decided not to argue with him.

My wife hits deal, and sure enough the ten of hearts appears as the first card. The guy gets very excited and says "see, I told you".

    Sigh...

The guy is wrong. But too bad no one stopped your wife from holding the flush! I've stopped a few ppl as a neighbor, but they have never hit it.

I'm a mid-level roller. Red Rock is my favorite casino in LV. I do stay only where I can get a comped room, so Red Rock is not always available to me...maybe once a year, or so. I love the rooms. I love the pool. Nice spa. A movie theater. A good buffet. And a beautiful casino. Sometimes they try to pawn me off to one of their lesser properties. :Þ There's a great pastry shop nearby, The French Bakery. It's down Sahara across from the Smith's Grocery. The Las Vegas French Club meets there on Sat mornings.

Yep it's partially my fault. She showed me the hand but I thought it was on a redraw. I turned back to my game and then the other guy spoke up.

But it's a new day! We'll see if we can find that royal today. My wife hit a couple of good hands yesterday. Aces on BP and a straight flush on JoB

She's getting ready now. I'm going to get in a quick session before breakfast.

    Thanks for reading.

Hit the fitness center when I got up this morning. It's very nice. The equipment is very new. The elliptical machines have touch screens where you can watch YouTube vids or TV. I caught a clip about a guy who trains cats for movies...

Hi everyone. My wife and mother in law did a spa treatment today. Both enjoyed it - highly recommended.

While they were there I took a shot at the Rocks Lounge prog royal (~$1160). Didn't find it and cashed out even.

Played a couple of blackjack sessions. Ended up about $200. Jackey was a great dealer. Helped out some beginning players. Kept the game moving.

Heading to PHo for dinner, then Paris for Jersey Boys.
