This has been a disastrous, rotten, no good year gambling wise for me. Most of the damage has been done at my local Horseshoe where I can NOT win at. With the rotten year and quick losses, I have been slow on earning tier credits due to being wiped out at the tables faster than usual. My dilemma is I am 362 tier credits shy of diamond and I want to make it while not having a huge risk of losing more money to Horseshoe. What is my best course of action? I have planned two trips to Vegas in this coming year and I would like to have the perk of having diamond for no resort fee and diamond lounge access.

Games I play are blackjack, craps, NL holdem, and some slots. I'm familiar enough with JOB strategy, but things get fuzzy for DDB.

Would quarter jacks or better be my best bet and how much would I have to run through to get it?

The BEST advice I could give you is ! Stop gambling for comps. Be smart and only gamble at your limits. But NEVER EVER gamble for comps. jmtc

I would agree, and if I was several thousand points behind this would be a non issue. I'm planning on 14 days in Vegas this coming year and would like the option of dropping in the diamond lounge for a drink and app, as well as not paying the resort fee over those days.

I'd find a good video poker machine at your local casino and get the points.

362 tier credits equals $3620 coin in on video poker. I would choose one of the least volatile game types (JOB or BP; BP will probably have a better paytable) and play some multihand to decrease variance. Maybe some 5 play for quarters.

Depending on speed, you'd be able to knock this out in a couple hours or so. With 6/5 BP, even if you remove the royal from the equation, your expected loss is no more than $200. Good luck!

Based on the relatively small amount of coin-in that the OP needs to achieve diamond, vs the value of the perks he would achieve (saving $30 per day on resort fees, plus free drinks and snacks in the diamond lounges, not to mention free show tickets every month), it would be a poor decision to not go and earn those last few hundred points.

"Dont gamble for comps" tends to be good general advice, but it shouldn't be applied as a blanket statement to cover every individual scenario.

Not knowing what your bankroll is, is gonna be tough. However that's a very obtainable amount of points on a couple of hundred dollars.
I would try to play a high return low volatility $1 slot game such as Double Diamond or Quick HIts two coin with progressive.

You get a lot of $2 pays with quickhits, and you have a good shot at running up some points. I would limit your sessions to say $60 to avoid too much volatility.
I have been able to rack up 100 to 150 points on a $60 buyin per gaming session. Another slot I like is the Tarzan progressives where the top bet is $1.50 at the penny level.

VP will give you a slight edge over $1 slots however you earn points at half the rate. Again hard to advise without knowing your bankroll, but I think your best approach is something low volatility with frequent small pays
for the purpose of achieving TR points.

I would play for comps in this situation. 362 is not many tier credits and low diamond is much better than high platinum. It's an excellent ROI. Of course, it's not my money.

Playing video poker (even at the quarter level), you should be able to achieve even under terrible conditions no more than $1 lost per tier point earned so worst case scenario it will cost around $350, if you hit a nice four of a kind you should reduce the loss, maybe even break even. It's a "no brainer" if you are that close and going to be in vegas for 2 weeks you will get back many times that in benifits, not waiting in line, diamond lounges, etc

I went to your local Horseshoe in June (TR here) If you're looking to earn the points with a smaller bankroll. My recommendation would be to play PENNY 6/5 Bonus Poker with or without STP (96.87%/97.14% respectively). The game will look like this.

On these machines you can bet up to hundred lines, but if you look at the pic, you don't have to bet all the lines 5 (6 with STP). So I'd recommend you bet the amount that earns you whatever amount of TCs you want to earn in an hour. For example if you can get in 400 hands per hour in and only want to be there 4 hours, then I would bet closer to 50 lines, not 100. The longer you're willing to grind it out with , the lower number of lines you need to play and it will lower your variance. JoB strategy is fine for this game as well.

$500 bankroll virtually guarantees you'll make it. Many sessions will be -$300 or better. I'm throwing out very conservative numbers here. With 6/5 Bonus your expected loss for 362 tier is $113.20.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't multi-line increase your variance as you are dealt a bad hand you have it on multiple lines now?

Multiline will increase your variance if you increase the number of hands without decreasing denomination. At the quarter denom, 5 line is more volatile than 3 line is more volatile than single line.

However, when considering overall bet size per spin, more lines decreases variance. Single hand for $0.50, 5 play for dimes, and 10 play for nickels all have the same bet size per spin; $2.50. In this scenario, the 10 play will be the least volatile, then the 5 play, and the single hand will have the highest variance.

Try buying something nice at the gift shop and have a couple of nice meal at a CET owned restaurant. You will get one tier credit and one reward credit for every dollar spent. You should be able to rack 362 tier credits in a short time. Just be sure that the outlet participates. This is much better than losing money at gambling and still missing diamond status. Maybe next year your luck will change.

    Yes, that is good advice.

It is not good advice in this situation. Minimal play for this person with some good return.

In fact, if anything, if he only plays that much, he will be looking at a reduced ADT and lower comps/offers for a bit.

But, he gets Diamond with the perks that go with it.

    Lighten up.

I guess I should of added that I'm expecting to lose at this local casino and just looking to lower my loss while gaining enough tier credits to get diamond. As I've had numerous trips buying into a craps table or blackjack table here with 50 minimum base bets or more and lose it in record fashion. It's all based on time spent at the table and when get your butt handed to you in record fashion, hardly a way to make my goal. I will take advice and try the multi-line low denomination Bonus Poker for this goal and then kiss this local casino bye bye! Thanks for some of the replies.

$25 resort fee times 14 days becomes your bankroll, to get to diamond. $350 can get you there. also, $5 on slots = 1 tier, vs $10 for vp. you are too close not.

It works BOTH ways. If you are dealt a good hand, you now have winners on multiple lines.

    Cards are cards.

I would strongly suggest against tables if you are only trying to get the points to make Diamond. You will not know for sure how you were rated and what hits the system. (could easily be different than what the pit critter tells you).

Slots or VP will be 99.9% accurate.
