    Hey VMB,

Ladybrick and I will be heading to Vegas from Jan. 14 to 17. We are staying at Mirage with some of our friends. She is not much of a gambler but will play a little bit if I ask her. I usually play craps, VP, and maybe some slots and I like to play two 2-3 hour sessions per day. Since Ladybrick likes Vegas but gets a little bored after watching me play for too long, I would like to ask for suggestions on cool things for the non-gambling partner/spouse to do while their significant other is burning the tables with the mortgage money ; )

Since we are staying mid-Strip, I'd appreciate any tips on cool non-gaming floor sights (museums, tours, food tastings, etc.) near the Strip that can keep her and her friends busy for a bit. Thanks in advance.

Tours are pretty easy as most hotels like the Mirage have counters to book them, mostly to the different canyons and the Hoover Dam and the like. I did see a foodie walking tour advertised but I don't know the particulars. You sorta need to google Vegas tours and go from there. I've only done the Laughlin one for more gambling, though. You are near Fashion Show Mall and the Forum Shops so that's a no brainer. The other best option is to check into shows. Assuming you are programming for the daytime, there are some good inexpensive shows all over the strip in the afternoon to check out.

You have the Siegfried & Roy's Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat right there at the Mirage. It doesn't take too long to got through. We like to go when the tigers are being fed. They are more lively. You can always ask at the desk when feeding time is.

Fall of Atlantis shows at the Forum Shops at Caesars.

Take a walk through The Venetian and see the canals and bridges and enjoy the shops. She can do the gondola ride. The waterfall at the Palazzo is nice. The Wax Museum is also there if she's into that. We did it last year and it was okay. There are coupons online if you search to save on admission.

The Bellagio Conservatory is nice although I don't know what they will have up at that time. The Christmas display is nice.

My wife says she had the best pedicure of her life at the Aria when we there. A spa type day would work.

We found the Flamingos at the Flamingo a bit of a let down but it's December....

We went to the Hershey store and M&M store, My wifes idea.

Marham - thanks. we have a spa morning planned for one of he days.

Leo - I'll look into the tour options and the afternoon shows.

Barely - Since she likes the Jean Phillipe patisserie at Aria, adding a pedicure to the program could earn me some brownie points.

Thanks for the tips. Keep em coming.

spring, summer and fall are perfect times for LV since the pool is the main place for a nongambler to kill time so aorry can't really help with winter activities.

I have taking my non-gambling gf on 7 or 8 trips and she loves LV. We do shows of course and a lot of walking around and sight-seeing early in the day. I also taught her basic VP so she can peck along at the bar and enjoy a cocktail or two. She always enjoy a walk thru Cosmo/City Center/Crystal shops and the couple of galleries along the way. We also check out the Bellagio Conservatory every trip, its always a winner. We also manage to do some reasonable shopping in the PH Miracle Mile shops as well. We have done Hoover Dam and Boulder City 3x. Always fun again and again. We took a Jeep once and hit some trails and rented a Harley once and did some touring to Mt. Washington, etc.

We had breakfast at Red Rock Casino and then did a drive of the Canyon, stopping a couple times for short hikes (it was spring, one of the first nice days in a while if the number of rock climbers we saw was any indication ;-) Then we sat in the picnic area outside the Canyon and had our breakfast leftovers for lunch, admiring the view. Very nice way to spend a half day. I'd probably do Spring Mountain Preserve next....

There's spas (off-Strip will be much cheaper if you have a car- though some provide shuttle service). There's shopping at all price points. Some afternoon shows and lots of evening entertainment. I enjoy walking the Strip or Downtown with an adult beverage and people watching.

I always enjoy a visit to the Bellagio Fine Art Gallery. Decent way to kill an hour or so.

The Atomic testing museum. A friend dragged me there a few years ago but I was pleasantly surprised, it was pretty interesting. It is a few blocks East of Bally's and cost $10 or so.

Ooh, Pinball Hall of Fame. We did that one afternoon a few years back (I went shopping, then picked up my husband - we alternated between the pub next door and playing pinball - it was very hot & non-a/c)
