Las Vegas Review-Journal mystery: Who bought the paper for $140 million?

    http://money.cnn.com/2015/12/13/media/las-vegas-review-journal-mystery-owners/

Who just bought Nevada's biggest newspaper? And why?
The questions are mounting -- and some of the newspaper's own reporters are revolting -- in the wake of a mysterious sale announcement on Thursday.

The new owners of the Las Vegas Review-Journal are "refusing to reveal themselves," Jon Ralston, the esteemed Nevada political reporter, told me on CNN's "Reliable Sources."

I heard about this and find it odd. Who buys a newspaper in this day and age and sees it as making long term profit? Doesn't make sense.

It will be interesting to see how it unfolds...

Yeah, rumours of who might have bought it. People just making suggestions. Plenty of articles in the Las Vegas Sun and on Huffington Post about it.

Look at the full-blown clusterfuck involving the Orange County Register and affiliates the past several years, and you come up with why indeed. Hell, the LA Times is selling A1 banner ads and faux advertising covers, even.

I love print, the tactile quality, the portability, the visual platform. Sure, I'm online all the time, more and more of my professional content is going online, but for reading, it's our three papers and probably two dozen periodicals we receive. As both a consumer and a journalist, it's hard to watch. Then again, when I went into the biz so long ago the end was reportedly coming soon soon soon, and there still is print. Select sectors are doing well.

Warren Buffet has bought quite a few regional newspapers over the past couple of years. To my knowledge he hasn't been particularly secretive about any of the purchases though.

It was bought by a Delaware corp, not Maryland. And I keep deleting your "I know the truth, but I can't tell you" posts because they violate our TOS and don't add to the discussions.

i would have posted the rumor buyer but that would violated your politics policy thats why i left it blank on the first one,

and people can read between the lines if i knew you werent going to delete posts for people putting out names i would have,

so the koch brothers have said they didnt buy it, sheldon adleson refused to coment when asked about it.trump cant afford it

theres only one rason somebody bought it and over payed for it.

I read my two papers The Province and The Vancouver Sun early morning online. But I still get print delivered as I like to do their crosswords/sudokus, sitting outside with a drink and a smoke. I no longer read print books, but I have an e-reader. I like print newspapers in Vegas cause in the morning I'm usually solo for breakfast and don't like to bring my laptop with me and refuse to read a newspaper on my phone. I'm 58 and counting, an old broad, so if I have given up as much print as I have...Just an observation.

You don't know for a fact who bought it, you want to continue to put out innuendo of rumors, not facts.

Your rason that someone bought it is pure speculation. We try to stick to facts here. Fact is that you don't have facts. :) Nobody has facts about this yet. Not even the staff of reporters at LVRJ.
