    My Trip Report

I got to the Linq Saturday night (12/5). I have walked through the casino a few times before I have stayed there. I have to say I have mixed feelings about the place. I think they did a nice job remodeling the place from IP. I just wish they had put in a new ventilation system. Maybe some smoke eaters. It was definitely smoky.

So, first night in Vegas, It started off not so good. The wait time for the shuttle buses were about 30-40 minutes, so I decided to take a cab. Of course I get the rude ass that took his time and went the long way around the airport. He ended up racking up a $25 tab. I learned my lesson and will not take a cab in Vegas again. One too many times that has happened to me.

I get to the hotel and the staff was quite friendly. I didn't have any issues with the staff at the Linq. The concierge was very friendly and helpful throughout the stay. I love the location of the place because I like to play at the Flamingo as well as Harrah's. I liked the gaming selection at the Linq. They had a $45 poker tourney which I didn't find until my last day and decided to skip it til next time. I liked the rooms at the Linq. They were roomier than they looked on youtube. The beds were comfy. I brought a mini keurig to make my coffee and they brought me some free k-cups. My room also had a mini frig, which was awesome for future references. I kept my creamer and baileys cool.

I didn't have much luck with the gaming, but I had a good time anyways. I saw Las Vegas the Show. It was very good and I would recommend it to folks who like the shows and have not seen it yet. It is at PH and reasonably priced. We paid $89 for 6th row, so we were right there.

As for the downside of the hotel and the trip..... There were only a couple things I didn't like about the hotel. My room location was bad and they said there wasn't anything available, but I could check back. I just decided to stay put. The room was on the fifth floor in the back with a view of the parking garage. I could barely tell if the sun was up or not. Also, being in the back like that, the walk from the elevator took soooo long. I literally felt like I was in the Shining when the hallway kept growing longer as I was heading for the elevator. I hate their elevators by the way. You have to swipe your card before hitting your floor's button. If you didn't get it in time, you went for a ride. The fifth floor was the first selection on the button pad, so I had to act fast. At least three times I ended up on the 16th floor trying to get back to my floor. When I was drunk, it was a little rough.

The bad side of the trip was that I felt the solicitors and vagrants were out of control and way worse than the last time I was out there. Sales folks literally chasing us down the road. It was nuts. I also had a weird encounter with a bartender at Harrah's. I sat down at the bar to have a beer and play a little VP. I put in just a $10 bill and he snipped at me about playing all five bets to get a comped beer. Pissed me off. I always do. I said I was and hit a few good hands and cashed out. Got my free beer, cashed ot $15 and left him $1 for being a dick.

I flew out on the red eye, so my sleepy afternoon was kind of an issue. I sat in the sportsbook waiting to head to the airport and fell asleep. I woke up to three security guards standing over top of me asking each other if I was asleep. I woke up fast. Pretty funny moment. On my way out, I caught the Linq shuttle for $8. Screw the cabbies. It's nice to know that they provide their own shuttle for that cheap. I'm not sure if they'll pick you up from the airport, but they do run once every half hour.

Overall, it was a good time. I'm not sure I would stay again just because I have found so many places out there that I liked better. I wouldn't discourage anyone from the place if you get a good deal. They comped me 4 nights and just paid $112 for resort fees, so, not bad for that price. Looking forward to another trip in March!

Rooms were hard to come by with the Rodeo in town.

I made my trip plans on Saturday December 5 and I was there on Monday, December 7. The casino said they would try to get me a better room(I am comped) but with such short notice they said the rodeo crowd has really crushed the room availability. I said not too worry, as long as my room is non-smoking I am fine with it. My room was non-smoking, I was happy.

Yeah, I was ok to stay in the room I was in too. I'll try to make it the following week in '16. I love going in December for the weather and since it is a cost effective time to go.

Sounds like you had a good time and maintained a good attitude in spite of the crummy aspects of the trip. I noticed more solicitors than usual the last couple months in Vegas. I always just keep walking and eventually they give up

Actually, on my last night, after quite a number of beers and watching a basketball bet tank in the last minute, I was having no part of someone trying to get anything off me and I snapped at him and said "get the F* out of my face!" I'm really not a confrontational person, but I couldn't take it anymore. I wish they would pass an ordinance against the vagrants and solicitors from hanging out and begging. I don't mind the guys that actually provide some form of entertainment like playing drums on the buckets or whatever, but I don't want someone trying to hand me cards for hookers or some dirty homeless person begging for my spare change, mainly because I usually don't have anything spare when I'm out there. Just a reason to stay inside as much as possible.

I know EXACTLY who you're talking about. My buddy and I sat down to slow roll some VP and watch football one Sunday. He left me alone, but was a complete dick to my buddy. Kept telling him..."You gotta play max credits man." Needless to say, we left and watched somewhere else.

Could be worse. They could have a voucher system. Also I think CET bartops are new enough where they can program a min bet requirement. But I've only seen it done at Rio of all places (All American Grille).

My gf got chastised at Paris last year for having the machine on one credit (and I think it was left that way by the previous player anyway) while ordering a non-alcoholic drink. She was pissed.

But it's also their job to make sure you are gambling a reasonable amount. The casino makes way more money off someone charging $7-8 a beer vs. what they win off someone betting 25c a hand.

And yeah tapping the room key at the Linq and giving you only a quarter of a second to tap your floor is annoying too. I wish they'd adjust that. But overall I'm a big fan of the Linq. As long as they leave TAG Lounge alone of course. [emoji6]

    Nice report!

Cromwell is the only place I have had a problem. I sat down and put a $20 in on full bet .25 and ordered a Sprite. The girl asked me if I put a $20 in? Expensive Sprite.

I have never had nor seen the homeless people do that. But I have had some of the sales people follow me a ways because I refused to talk to or interact with him

I have noticed in both of my favorite vacation spots, LV and Jamaica the hustlers get much more aggressive when the crowd size is down. Less targets, so they go full court press on what is there.

Sorry you had some bad experiences but hopefully on the whole it wasn't too bad of a time. I think what helps me with respect to the people peddling crap or homeless folks is when I see them, I immediately adopt what I call a military face and aggressive walk haha. I'm a nice person I believe but I'll look directly at people peddling that shit with fire behind my eyes and they typically back off. I guess city living has taught me that but for what it's worth, those folks typically don't want to deal with someone they fear lol

Downtown is bad about this in the morning with no crowds. Beggars galore. I got asked about club tickets by the same guy 3 times in the same morning. It was annoying.

Enjoyed the report. My GF and I enjoyed our stay at the LINQ. However, we upgraded to a suite using the $20 trick. The damn timeshare salesmen where over by the sportsbook and to the left of the entrance for the escalators to Hash Hash a Go Go if anyone else is headed there.

I was intrigued by the Linq because of its location and newness. I might try it some day if I get a really good deal. I must say that I really liked The Flamingo more so than Harrah's. Bally's sounds decent as well- all in good locations mid strip near the Metro. I must admit that the sales people are a real pain, so often I just say stuff to them in Russian, and usually some other poor slob behind me is attacked! The homeless/beggars have never really bothered me although it is annoying to see some many of them esp. on the overpass bridges! The card slappers also seem to let you go by if you ignore them. Another annoyance is the sales people in the mall stores that almost block your way trying to give you a small sample of something. Those are the people that literally run after you. Although at 6'3" and 300 lbs if I glower enough they let me alone. Appreciate your taking the time to give your impressions!

Actually yes. Not the vagrants, but the pushy people trying to take you to a club or sell you something. Ive been out there many times and I have never had an issue with the solicitors, this time was out of control. Funny thing is, they're trying to sell you something and some of them really got nasty about it. Makes no sense.

Actually, I disagree. I sat down to watch Big Elvis at Harrah's. He was good and I enjoyed watching a few songs and having a couple Amstels, but in the end, I put $40 in the VP machine for two beers rather than maybe $15? They should be encouraging people to play the VP and leave them alone.
