I recently played in a corporate "fun" casino on the craps table. After checking out a few rolls and the last guy rolled a 7, I put $5 on the Pass Line and $15 on the Don't Pass Line (the idea being to double and add $5 on whichever didn't win on the last roll but keep the other at $5). The dealer said I couldn't make this bet as it was an illegal bet and said I can only bet on Pass or Don't Pass, not both together at the same time.

Now I know I've played craps in Vegas after quite a lot of alcohol but I am sure I can make this bet can't I?

This is the strategy of the "Doey Dont" type player, and has always been allowed in Vegas in my years of playing.

In a Casino night contest or tournament where a minimum bet amount is required it may be not allowed. Probably to prevent a person from playing and just "pushing" most times on his bets. Since the person in theory is not risking any money most times, he could move up the leader board while others go broke.

You risk the 12 coming up and losing your pass line bet but only pushing your don't bet. That's 1/36 or 2.78% house advantage. That's why I don't play it.

You are risking money. If a 12 shows up you lose 15. I only play the doey don't. Usually 1500 on the don't and 1000 on the pass. That way I can bet up to MY table max in odds. 6k. I start with 900 odds and work my way up to the max. Also, my avg bet is 2500. At GEEZERS vegas they count all monies on the table. So up to a 8500 avg. So the doey/dont is totally allowed anywhere.
PT is right but get past that first roll and the odds are in your favor as much as 2:1. 1/36 rolls for the 12? I'll risk it! Much more worried about the 7 on the come out. 11, only a little worried. Lol..

Thank you guys, I thought it was allowed in Vegas as I've played it myself. The guy who ran the table here needs to brush up on the rules before running a game!!

Interesting that Bubble Craps doesn't allow it. I wonder why?

I heard it used to but people used it to build points... this is before they tightened up points on those. I think Cet is 100 per point

The Shoot-To-Win's in Reno allow it.
