I've never been to an In-N-Out burger.

I get it, people enjoy some of these fast-food franchises like In-N-Out. But, to seek them out in Las Vegas while surrounded by world-class restaurants is like going to Tuscany and eating at Pizza Hut. You'll have many other chances to try In-N-Out.

Yeah, this has always been my reasoning. I'd love to try In-N-Out. But I can never justify spending my limited time, money or calories on fast food when there are so many other great options.

Now, if they had a restaurant in - or VERY near - a strip casino, I'd almost certainly try it as a late night snack.

At least In-N-Out is regional. If folks are gonna have a quick eat it makes sense -- to me, obviously not all here given the ardor for McCrap -- to get something you can't get back home. It's lunch. A few bucks. Still plenty of time in the week to eat high on the hog. This isn't a case of dinner at Piero's losing out to dinner at Olive Garden, Outback trumping Delmonico.

I have one memory of In-N-Out from the passenger side of the car, underfed and over drunk. The words "Double Double" on the drive thru sign resonated, one of the best burgers of my life. That being said, I have never bothered to plan a trip to the one in Vegas.

In+Out is ok, but not ok enough IMHO to make a special trip.

"Next level up" might be Shack Shack @ NYNY if you're looking for a new burger chain experience.

Thanks for sharing that video... Anthony is exactly correct! There are many threads that you can search here on VMB that reference In & Out. Most have the usual replies from folks who refuse to "join the pack". I suppose I get the need to be a contrarian and differ from the masses that some seem determined to exude, but I drive by an In & Out here in Northern Nevada several times a week and there's never... I repeat NEVER... a time when their drive-thru and parking-lot isn't just packed. It's just a really good place to eat!!! Anthony Bourdain's comments are spot on in the video you've shared. If you're a high-brow, finest food connoisseur and only linen napkins will do... skip the trip, BUT, if there's just a little "trailer park" in ya, please do yourself a favor and swing by. In any event, you're not investing major time or $$$ in checking it out.

Hmmm, I'm a bit confused. Guess I'm an aberrant "finest food connoisseur" who also has some "'trailer park'" in him. Apparently I need to be more black/white in these things.

I love In 'N Out, but I still never manage to stop by.

just not convenient enough, I guess.

I'm sure I would go there for a late night snack if it were more convenient.

You're most welcome. I love my "trailer park" side, and it actually helps fuel my degen side. LOL

We get in on a Sunday, and plan on doing a big brunch, with unlimited mimosas, beer and wine. After that feast we won't need another big meal, hence the perfect oppy to try a late night In-N-Out burger. BTW, I really enjoyed Anthony Bourdain's series...he has the right amount of wrong, and is not afraid to try anything once. :wink2:

Yes - agree fully on that one. Shake Shack puts a unique twist on the fast food experience. The quality is far above the competition.

There's no In-N-Out here where I live. So I had to satisfy my curiosity about what the big deal is about it when I visit Vegas.

And now that I've tried it (it's good) I can add it to my list of burger joints that didn't quite do it for me. I'm still looking for my dream burger.

I've been to Shake Shack three times, probably led by the hype each time, and I've never been all that happy with it. I think Five Guys is a better burger and its cheaper. I think Wendy's single/double/triple burger patties are just as good even. But then again, these two aren't options on LVB.

I am far from a high brow connoisseur. I love places that give a good bang for the buck with quality service. It's simply that every time I buy into the hype on a burger joint, I am underwhelmed, whether Five Guys or Steak 'n Shake or whatever. I'm just not willing to take the gamble on a burger when there are so many new and interesting restaurants of all price points opening to rave reviews and so many still reasonably priced prime rib dinners to indulge in. I'd just rather have a cheap steak over a burger and Bourdain is not someone who can sway me.

Exactly... it's a $6-$7 meal... no need to overthink it!!! Please let us know what you think.

Another side of Bourdain you don't normally see - nicely done.

If you're coming to Vegas, why NOT try it - just once? It's a fine, fun, locals experience. I say go for it!
What law says you can't do In N Out and fine dining on the same trip? It's not like anyone only eats one meal in Vegas.

Worth the trip, have the limo driver or cabbie swing by on your way to or from your hotel, spend a few bucks on an In n Out, and decide which camp you reside in - the 'I love it' , 'I hate it' , 'no big deal' , or 'been there, done that' .....

Well all meals aren't going to be at world-class restaurants.
We ate at In-N-Out once and even Raising Canes. It worked for the time this past trip.

Once before, I even "seeked out" a Jack In The Box because they stopped being in this area long ago and I might have been to young to remember eating there. Anyway, well, I know they suck. Lol

Our primary residence is in Maryland, and we have a vacation/family home in Western NC, and neither area have an In-N-Out Burger. Plus, if it's good enough for Mr. Bourdain, it's good enough for us to give it a try. Frankly, I can't wait. LOL
