So this is kinda a two part question, I was in Vegas this year around April staying at Aria and had my best trip, by far, with about $5,000 profit. Me and a friend had been planning on going back out there during thanksgiving (this week!). There are still some logistics that need to be worked out, but I've been reading that you have a better chance at getting upfront comps if you set up a credit line so that you can draw markers as needed.

My question is, can I do a wire from my bank account to the casino instead, and withdraw my money at the tables in the form of a marker? I'd prefer not to have a hard credit inquiry if possible. If I do set this us, will I be able to get upfront rooms comps (Thinking $5,000 advance) as easily as if I setup a CL?

Not sure how I would proceed from here even if all the answers are a yes, most of the vegas trips I made were made a decade ago when I was stationed at Camp Pendleton, and never got anything comped!

In regards to my play time out, I used my card everytime (and did end up getting an extra next comped), I'd guesstimate my average play was ~$100/hr for 12 hours total, $25-$50/hr for maybe 8 hours total.

You can certainly wire $5k in front money to the casino and then use markers at the tables up to that amount. As for comps, though, $5k in front money is insignificant to them and should have no impact on your upfront comps. My unsolicited advice is just put fifty hundred dollar bills in your front pocket and don't worry about going through the process of setting up front money

If sending money would get you upfront comps, many, many folks would do that. Having $5-$10-$30k upfront does not mean you will play even $1. They only care about how much you actually put in play.

Your best bet is to call in and ask - assuming that you put your play on a card on your last visit. THAT is the only way they know what sort of player you are.

By the way, CL or Wired money... neither proves you will play at any level. And of course, something as low as $5k will not even get a notice. Lots of people walk in with $5k in their pocket and do not get upfront comps.

Wiring money can get you a room comp but nothing more.

But 5k isn't enough for a host to even bother.

50k and they'll give you a nice suite for 3 nights.

5k can go real quick at the tables if u have a bad run like in a half hour

but all they care at aria is about your history, if u bet heavy the first nite go in and see a host but rember aria is used to top players so 100$ or 200$players arent anything to them

A credit line does not cause a credit inquiry--they are only interested in the bank account to be sure you have funds to cover your withdrawls.
I use the CL so I don't have to carry a large amont of money while traveling.
It is very easy to set up--just call the casino you are staying at and they will give you all the information you need.

    not really true.

if you have no history with Central Credit,

Central will pull a hard inq on a consumer credit report to get your file started.

the casino can also check your consumer credit again later if you're asking for an increase or they're suspicious about something.

also, like with any business, they don't care if you have money in your bank account if you have good payment history.

a lot of people keep money elsewhere - stocks, bonds, trading account, shoe box under the bed, etc.

Really sorry if I gave the wrong information as I was just going by my own experience.
The first CL I set up was with CET a few years ago and they did not do a credit check as I check my credit report every month and no new inquirys showed up.
I had also read a few articles dealing with credit lines that said the same thing.
I apologize for the bad info

I guess I'm lucky in that I've never wired any up front money and I can get 3 nights in a corner suite at Aria (which I know is a smaller suite) no problem.

I do have about 4 years history of slot play only with MGM properties, and I rarely take more than $5 - $7k with me.

I know I don't qualify for the nicer Sky Suites or other larger suites in Aria.

Assuming you're playing blackjack your theo will be fairly low, maybe around $360 for $100/hand for 12 hours and around $120 for $50/hand. So in all $500 in theo would get about $175 in back end comps. So maybe you'd get a night knocked off and maybe resort fee and a buffet? Now going forward you'd probably get marketing offers for the regular rooms.

If I have a $5k bankroll and want to play around 12 hours I would probably start out at around $25 a hand. Then bump up or down depending on how variance is going.

As for you saying you never got anything comped, well you've got to ask for it. At the end of the trip before you check out you'll need to go ask the players club or a host to review your play to knock charges off.

We're talking about the first trip at a casino with no play history.

Ok. Got it, that makes sense. If they don't know how you play, you'll get nothing up front as already explained.

No "luck" here. They know your play and comps are based off of play. Not on front money.

Let me repeat. Upfront offers/comps are based on play.
Back end comps are based on play.
Comps are based on play. Not losses (except VERY high end). Not on credit line. Not on front money. Not on promises.

You play, and they comp a small percentage based on the game you are playing.

Wow you're good. I called m life about getting a room comp. They called a host and they got me a $160 room comp for one night. I already had a one night comp from an email promo so they combined the offers (after a little coaxing from me when they were unsure of whether or not they could do that :D )

In regards to my previous play, I spend most of my time at blackjack, but only made about half my winnings there. I made a little at craps in 2 hours and, believe it or not, 2k at WAR in about 15 minutes.

Debating whether or not the room comp (the one I got via email) was better than the other offer I had for $150 resort credit, discounted room rate and a show BOGO. Gonna look more into it tomorrow and may swap them around.

Exactly. The risk of ruin is too high. You'd be better off taking a portion of the bankroll and paying for the room and then playing however you want with then.

Cool, good to hear I was close on the value. But as you've seen from the thread, it's not your credit line or front money that gets you comps. It's how much you've played. With $5k, your risk of ruin will be sky high if betting $100/hand. I usually go for about 20 units per hour or so of blackjack for a buy in. Eventually you will see that 10 hand losing streak or that resplit of aces goes south.

    Yea, this happens.

But, as you know there are people that figure the house only has a 2% edge on Blackjack, so it is not possible to lose all your money that quick. LOL!

By the way, these are the same people that decide to dump $500 on slots that advertise 95% payback and figure they will only lose 5%. ROFLMAO
