    My Trip Report

However, I will have upcoming reviews of:

    Rio Buffet with seafood upgrade
    Million Dollar Quartet
    High Roller
    Grazie Gift Giveaway

Gambling has pretty much sucked, the problem with double booking at two properties that you want to stay in good graces with is that is you're doing badly, it's twice as bad.

You are dead on, it can be very tough if you double book. We've done that a few times and I don't like the added pressure to play. We have such a good system at the Cal that I would never jeopardize it, and then add in trying to get established elsewhere... it can go bad, really bad. Same at the Nugget, the offers are so consistent - 3 or 4 nights pretty much anytime, $75 in slot play - hate to stop that train coming, because we like staying there a lot and the rooms can be $$$.

I've started to want to stay at places that I don't care about on some days, just so it doesn't matter if I play or not.

    Hope your luck turns around!

Thank you to all who commented, still it wasn't a waste. I almost forgot that I still have FBC at V/P and will also have a review of Bouchon.

Now I'm off to cash in some TITOs, but no play since I don't want to incur a gambling day at CET.

I have visiting to do. Among other places to visit, I will be visiting Jin Caldwell of Jinju chocolates at her production kitchen.

I hope your turn it around. Are you in town for a Silver Strike event?

I agree the added pressure of two properties can suck.

Feel your pain. Two weekends ago did MBay and Cosmo. Not ONE handpay all weekend. Not a good way to end the year. At least Holiday Gift Shop points is shipping me something that I couldn't spend. But I coulda bought 5 or 6 or 7 of those if I just kept my purse shut.

Not to hijack, but $75 FSP...that's almost an insult. For what you guys play, you should be getting $200-$400 FSP.

    SLot Porn!!

OK, so Jin called and had to cancel, which turned out to be providence In disguise. Saw my cousin off, and then things kinda returned to normal.

Went over to Venetian and got a handpay!!!!!

    handpay_a.jpg handpay_b.jpg

Of all machines. Super Hoot Loot!!!!!

So, it is a little salve for a big wound, but I'm still $1600 less down . . .

Went to the GGE, did my shopping and came back to meet a fellow VMBer.

Met Evoni in the Grazie Gold lounge. She is a very nice lady and we had many war stories to share . . . .

So, now I'm done here, and done at CET because I don't want to incur another gambling day. So where? Aria, Cosmopolitan? Sam's Town, or quit . . . .

Well, I owe you a ton of stories, so I may work on those tonight. Gonna eat at Bouchon in Venetian.

    Dinner at Bouchon

The restaurant was not crowded at 7PM, but I had to make a reservation for 2 since Bouchon uses Open Table and Open Table won't make a reservation for one.

The complete dinner menu is located at:

    http://www.venetian.com/content/dam/lasvegas/venetian/master/main/home/restaurants/bouchon/Menu-Bouchon_Dinner.pdf

    I had:

Bread shaped like leaves, with butter and pistachios on the side

    Bouchon_1.jpg

    *Petit Plateau ½ lobster, 8 oysters, 2 shrimp, 4 clams, 8 mussels.

Note that they didn't serve horseradish with the Petit Plateau, and when I asked for it, the horseradish came with a warning, and I'm glad that my waiter warned me. It was by far the strongest horseradish I'd ever had. I needed VERY LITTLE on my oysters.

    Bouchon_2.jpg Bouchon_3.jpg

*Gigot d’Agneau roasted leg of lamb with chickpeas, broccolini, eggplant & young carrots

    Bouchon_4.jpg

    Crème Brulee

    Bouchon_dessert.jpg

All in all a wonderful meal, The Petit Plateau could have served by itself as a full meal, but I had to try the roast lamb.

The Petit Plateau had two shrimp that were huge!

The lamb was served medium, three slices that provided 12 pieces when quartered. The lamb was tender and very flavorable. The chickpeas I could've done without, but they did go well with the entree.

My waiter asked if I wanted to have dessert, and I had to give the Creme Brulee a try. Served with a flat spoon, it was, like the rest of the meal, superb.

A note that Bouchon charges for soft drinks by the serving. They use 12 oz. bottles. Beware if you have soda drinking kids.

Rio Carnival World buffet with seafood upgrade

Rio Carnival World buffet with Seafood upgrade

The have closed the seafood buffet at Rio and Incorporated it with the Carnical WOrld buffet.

CET/Rio is running a promotion through 12/31/2015. Earn 50TC during a gambling day and earn a complimentary buffet DURING THAT DAY ONLY. You cannot "save them up", and only the card holder can use the coupon.

OK, that being said. During the week, the dinner buffet is $31.99, and the Seafood upgrade is $25.00 including tax. My cousin was very lucky (won money) while earning his buffet, and was kind enough to pay for his and my upgrade.

If you purchase the seafood upgrade, you receive a UV hand stamp on your right hand.

The seafood area is in the back. One way in and one way out. There is an attendant there with a UV light to check wheter or not you have a stamp.

The seafood upgrade is relevant because there is NO seafood in the regular Carnival World (that I saw, except for a few sushi rolls).

So, what do you get for $25.00? Here is an incomplete list. I got about 90% of the items

    Steamed/Fried Seafood

Fried Clams, Fried Oysters, Baked Mussels, Fried Shrimp, Fried Clams, Jambalaya, Steamed Mussels, Steamed Clams

    Fish

Mahi, Salmon, Halibut, Blackened Tuna, Grilled Ono

    Ceviche

There were 4 kinds, but I didn't write all of them down

    Baked seafood

Baked Crab, Lobster Medley, Baked Clams, Baked Oysters, more that I missed

    Soups

    Lobster Bisque, NE Clam Chowder

    Cold seafood

Chilled Scallops, Chilled Oysters, Chilled Shrimp, Chilled King Crab

    Salads

Seaweed, Jellyfish, Glass Noodles Seafood, Spicy Clam, Herring, Italian, Spanish

    Sashimi

    Tuna, Ahi, Salmon, Tilapia

All the seafood was very good and all of the acoutrements were served, including drawn butter, garlic butter, seafood sauce, horseradish.

If you are a seafood lover, I highly recommend this buffet.

Grazie Gift Giveaway and meeting Evoni

Much the same as last year, except this year I had more points.

    $100 free play/gift card was 57,500 points. I had 80,000

The top gift was a tricked out BMW for (get this) 92 Million points (approximate cash value $160,000). There was a guy that checked it out but he "only" had 72 Million points. V/P told him that he could play the difference in cash, which I estimate to be about $35,000.

Since HGS and GGWU are my gift events to shine, I settled for $125 in Best Buy Gift cards, a can of Moose Munch (milk chocolate popcorn, and a few tchotchkes (keychain, pen/stylus)

The "everyone gift" this year was very unique. A wooden box that contained a special deck of .999 gold foil finished playing cards.

    Venetian_1.jpg Venetian_5.jpg Venetian_2.jpg Venetian_3.jpg Venetian_4.jpg

So, I had a picture taken, and then left to meet Evoni. She was sitting in the High Limit slot area at Venetian. I introduced myself and she and I live less than 10 miles from each other. We traded war stories for 15-20 minutes, and then parted since she had family business to attend to.

Time for me to hit the hay. I have an early flight tomorrow morning and it's past my bedtime. Million Dollar Quartet, the High Roller and and hour and a half at Aria still to come.

    DaiLun, I'm enjoying this TR.

Nice that you were able to touch bases w/ Evoni. I'm an avid reader of her blog and I've heard she's a real class act...

    Thanks again for sharing!
