Where besides Vegas have you taken a solo vacation?

Business trips where you spent a few extra days or came early don't count. You wouldn't have gone to that destination unless you had business. I've had about 50 of those.

I was into baseball trips for a brief period. I went to Boston, Chicago, Denver and Houston for the baseball and side trips to points of interest. I was impressed by many of the things all of those areas had to offer. If I were forced to pick a favorite, I think Boston would win by a tiny majority.

I always wanted to do Anaheim, but never go around to it. It would have been cool to do an Anaheim/Las Vegas combo trip.

I have done a number of the business side trips which don't count but, also a number of trips where the SO only comes on for part of the trip. Almost all of these have had golf involved with a bunch of them in Scotland. I arrive early or stay after and add four days of golf solo. I have also, on official guys golf trips to Scotland then tacked on various countries in Europe as add-ons solo.

I have found UK and Ireland very easy solo as it is easy to meet people. Show up at a local, buy a pint for the person next to you and a friend for life.

Travel is my business and business is my travel, so I don't think one disqualifies another; the idea is to go some place and enjoy, isn't it? Canada, Mexico, the American South, ALL over the West, Hawaii often: Many many days and nights out having fun in great locales, eating awesome food, meeting interesting people, seeing gorgeous sights; from ATVing to snorkeling, playing golf to mountain biking, kayaking to fishing, I've had some fun out there! Not many casinos in that mix, however, even if I was bunking at a casino-resort.

Vegas is pretty much the only trip I have done solo that wasn't at least partially about business.

I stayed in Hawaii on my own, with a few days being solo, and many solo activities, but was there for a friends' wedding and had numerous group activities too.

But for most destinations, I don't generally have the impetus to go unless there is a group going. I got to travel a fair bit as a kid, and I really don't have any kind of travel bucket list, with the exception of notable golf courses (which I would not want to be playing solo).

Pretty much any time I say "I was thinking about a trip to...." and my husband makes a face like I just asked him to eat the litter box. :)

I did a trip to Utah and got snowed out in Bryce Canyon. After 2 days locked in my hotel room, I followed a snow plow out and made it to the highway and into LA. The next day I went to Disneyland because it was there, but it was super depressing. I had no idea that the Happiest Place on Earth could be a drag, but I'd never done it alone before.

I took a solo Southern Caribbean cruise out of Puerto Rico. I had originally intended to travel with my ex, but we split up before the trip commenced. I wasn't going to go because I'm an introverted person by nature and didn't think I would have any fun. I was wrong. I made a great friend from London, UK and two friends from Missouri. The four of us spent the whole week together beaching and drinking. At the end of the trip, there were many tears and promises to stay in touch. Since that trip, I have visited London and Lake of the Ozarks to visit my friends. We have all kept in touch and it was one of the best trips I ever took. Besides making great new friends, there is something to be said for sleeping smack in the middle of the bed all week!

A couple days in St. Louis and a couple days in Wisconsin Dells. For solo trips, I tend to revisit places I've been before. I don't know of a place I am ready to do completely on my own.

    Good thread idea, Breeze!

My one and only solo trip was a road trip to help my brother move in/settle into his new digs in the Wisconsin Dells area (2 days).
I'm looking forward to some solo trips ANYWHERE once my minions get a little older and can fend for themselves when their mom is at work!
Until then, I'm jotting down the ideas I get from viewers like you!

Oahu - Got lucky and went at a very slow time, so it was pretty relaxing. But after a few days, the slow pace ("island time") started to annoy me :p (maybe I need to go back...)

France - Mainly Normandy beaches, but also spent some time in Paris. I went alone, but took a few guided tours of the beaches, and a couple walking tours in Paris.

Once a year I go to a Numismatic convention in Florida. It is hobby related and not a business venture. This year it is in Tampa, last year it was in Orland and after Tampa; they are holding it in Fort Lauderdale. It is always in January so it is a good break away from winter. My wife went to several shows with me but was bored and now would rather stay at home. She takes her own trips every year to see her sister and we respect one another's time to be by ourselves. That's why we are now married for over 50 years.

I spent about a month bumming around Beijing after law school (I worked for a while before law school, so I was definitely old enough that I wouldn't call it "backpacking" or something like that). I had a couple friends I stayed with for the first few days, then met people that I wound up staying with for the next few days, and so on.

On a less grand scale, I've done a few Caribbean islands solo, sometimes staying with family but still on my own for most of the trip. Did a few days in Buenos Aires and LA on my own, as well, and plenty of 2-3 day ski trips in the Northeast. But Vegas is the only place I go to regularly solo; at this point, I do one trip every year or so with the girlfriend, but she's not a big fan and is perfectly content to let me go on my own as often as I'd like.

Trust yourself and let it roll. Before we met Terri went off to school in Mexico City, then toured around Mesoamerica for a few months. Twenty-plus years later it still resonates. After that it was the Marianas Islands. While she visits family when she goes, her trips to Australia also include "Terri time."

For many years I have traveled with Singles groups. It is always fun to be other singles. You can choose to spend time alone or participate in the singles activities. Most of the singles are 40yrs. to seniors. Most of the singles just want to have fun together and not to meet someone. I go just to have fun on the ships and on the ports. I have also gone to Caribbean island resorts by myself and met people to hang out with.

I have a lot of fun going to Vegas by myself. I do whatever I would like to do. I like Santa Barbara, Calif, Big Bear, Calif., Palm Springs, Hawaii, & etc. Happy Hour hang outs are a lot of fun too.

I am a big time Ship cruiser because it has all kinds of activities. I cruise 5 times a year or more. I am leaving next week on a 12 cruise because I dislike winter weather and I cruise to Mexico during the winter and Alaska during the summer.

I keep kicking around going to Negril, Jamaica solo. There are some pretty active message boards similar to this one and a lot of folks do so and have a great time. I have not yet got the courage to actually do it though! It is prob like anything else half the battle is just getting there and all would be well.

After several cruises with family members, I am taking my first solo cruise in March. I am really looking forward to it as it holds the same premise as my solo trips to Vegas - whenever, wherever.

I have done a couple of solo beach vacations, good for when I just want to lay on the beach and not do too much. I've also done a few days in places like Seattle after a work trip.

I have a family trip to Italy coming up but I'm thinking my next trip after that is going to be an international solo trip. I'm both a little nervous and also excited about it. I'm trying to decide between another trip to Europe but somewhere new for me, or a trip to somewhere in Asia like Japan or Thailand.

I think it depends on what you want to do. I usually like to visit San Francisco, so easy to walk around, good eats and their bus system is also good and cheap. $2 and ask for a transfer because their transfer usually are good for 3 to 4 hours so you can go back and forth on the bus. This past Sept. trip I walked across the golden gate bridge and went down to golden gate park (note, they also have massage parlors that provide some services but I haven't experienced them yet). the only drawback lately is that hotel prices have been very high, dumps are going for $140 a night so very hard to get bargains if you want a better/decent hotel experience.

I enjoyed my trip to DC a couple of years ago, was neat to visit all the Smithsonian museums and the other museums and places to visit.

I don't mind visiting Orlando/tampa and Disneyworld (including epcot center, MGM studios) and universal studios and if time permits Busch Gardens or SeaWorld or even Kennedy Space Center. So much to do and see in one area.

I took a tour of Europe in 2013 and was neat to visit Italy (soo many places, venice, rome, florence, etc. etc.) and France (although now might not be a good time to visit Paris) and also visited London, Amsterdam, Switzerland, Monte Carlo and Nice. so much to see and experience.

I visited japan and Seoul Korea last year and had a lot of fun. If you are interested in the *ahem* night life I can direct you to some places in Seoul and Osaka where you can get serviced for a reasonable price ($150). The Japanese food is great, so fresh and tasty. Unfortunately the major cities like Tokyo or Osaka are very crowded and the trains can get crowded but if you travel during the off periods at least you can get on board. If you are into Japanese culture there are lots of castles and temples to visit and it was a blast to ride the bullet train from Tokyo to Osaka. I didn't even notice or feel the speed of the train.

I heard that other parts of asia (Thailand or Vietnam) are also great to visit but unfortunately for me I would need to take a few hops to get to those areas.

I heard the northwest US is good to travel to (seattle, Vancouver, etc.) or the east coast is good if you are into history (NY, Pennsylvania, MD, Va, etc.).

I thought about taking a cross country trip across the US but not as easy going solo.

Almost all of my "vacation" solo trips are extending some kind of a business trip or visit for 1-2 days just to kick back.

The only real "solo" leisure-only trip I did in recent history was to drive to Kansas City just to get away from everyone and everything! :)
