    Hi all-

I am going to be staying at Sam's Town for a few days next month. Not my first choice, but it's a family trip.

Are any other casinos within walking distance (safely) from there? Arizona Charlie's or Eastside Cannery? Is anything walkable?

I know about the shuttles and all, but I thought I would see if there's anything I can hit up easily.

    Thanks!

Eastside Cannery is right next door. Absolutely walkable.
Arizona Charlie is much further but walkable during daytime. I did it myself.
I even went all the way to Boulder Station.

Eastside cannery is about a 10 minute walk away right down the road if you exit out the back side of Sam's. Its actually not a bad casino and worth a visit. But outside of that you are on an island unless you consider a trip to Walmart as fun. Sams Town has a lot to see and do so you and your family should have plenty of options during the day. But if you wanted to stretch your legs a little the Cannery is pretty easy to get to.

The bus stops RIGHT across the street, plus free shuttle to Downtown and Strip...whereever you want to go.

I don't know why but I was expecting you to mention the Longhorn (across Boulder Highway and down a block). "Where fun meets up with despair to catch lung cancer while grinding away on 2 dollar Blackjack", Arguably the dingiest, smokiest casino left in town since the demise of the Western, Gold Spike (original) and Nevada Palace.) People do praise it's cafe and cheap gaming options and I'm sure the patrons are part of the show.

Eastside Cannery is also close (10 mins) and Arizona Charlies is walkable, just follow the sidewalk and you're there, but it's a longer trip (1.3 miles).

The Longhorn has Blackjack tournaments starting at high noon (12:00pm) on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Entry fee is $10 on weekdays and $20 on Saturday. I've done it once and it was really funny ;) (won 3rd place and got a free dinner for 2 in the Cafe). It's a 10 minute walk.

At the Longhorn we all were given (won?) A Grandma's cookie straight from the trip to the vending machine. Casino workers would take smoke breaks between the inside door and the outside door, because those nine square feet were less smoky than the casino. I did not understand the visit. I would highly recommend it.

Everything is walkable assuming you really like to walk!

In my not so humble opinion, Eastside Cannery is walkable, but it's easier and faster to drive. Take the local streets behind (east) of ST to Harmon. I've walked that once.

Boulder Station is too far of a walk for me to enjoy.

Just be aware it's not a great neighborhood so Eastside or Longhorn really are your options day or night. There are several good food choice at Sam's Town. The sportsbook at the Cannery is decent. My opinion...no need to walk across the street to Longhorn. You might also check to see if Sam's Town has a shuttle to the strip.

The neighborhood to the east of Sams Town doesn't look that bad. However there are a bunch of low-rent "extended stay" places just north of ST and winos hanging out in the parking lot of the Walgreens and such. That area is kinda creepy after dark, but I can think of many areas that are much worse.

There is a free shuttle from ST to Fremont DT, I think the last one is at about 8 PM Think there is also a shuttle running to the strip, I think Harrahs

I have walked more than once in the summer to the Eastside very short walk. Have also walked to Arizona Charlie's but hopped a bus to go back, was just too hot for the walk. If you miss the shuttle there are buses that run down Boulder Hwy from downtown. Also from the strip you can just hop a bus on Flamingo near Bally's that goes to Sam's town. Also lots going on at Sam's town, usually go out there at least once each trip. You can pick up a copy of the shuttle schedule at the hotel.

Heck, I've walked between Sam's Town and Boulder Station! Wouldn't recommend it, however. Between Sam's and Cannery is easy.
