Can someone explain what Pointplay is?

The mlife website says 'POINTPlay gives you more of what you like best, FREEPLAY for your slot play. Redeem points when and where you want from your favorite slot games without waiting in line. '

...so is it Freeplay, but you have to go through an extra step to convert it to use it? Seems a bit pointless to me. No pun intended  Why don't they just make it Freeplay inm the first place?

    Thanks!

I am pretty sure that you a given Freeplay with an offer. I believe that you earn Pointplay with your slot pay.

Point play you earn from your slot points.

Free play can be given as a promotion or as part of your package when you stay.

Free play isn't tracked online like point play is. Free play usually expires after a certain time once added, or your trip is over.

Point play is good for as long as you keep gaining points within the redemption time. I believe 6 months for sapphire, 12 months for other tiers.

I'm sure it's an internal accounting thing as well.

Yeah, just think of it as you're earning points when you play slots or video poker, and then when you earn 10,000 or more points you can convert it to Free Play. It was confusing to me too, but it's just a funky name for slot club points.

And, as mentioned above, sometimes they will just give you Free Play outright with your room offer or for other promotions.

One thing not mentioned I found out the hard way is that Pointplay actually pulls points from you tier level so I would watch doing that if you are trying for a higher tier.

Is that a direct point for point deduction? For example if a person has 30,000 point play available and all 30,000 points are redeemed/converted to free play, does that reduce your tier credit by 30,000? That's pretty significant if someone is trying to improve their tier status level..

So it becomes a balancing act of what is more important to a specific player goal - more instant free play now or higher tier level for future comp benefits.

    Thanks for sharing that info..

I use my pointplay all the time and I've never seen this happen.

Pointplay is accrued separately from tier credits, as are express comps, and therefore their use are not tied to tier credits at all.

If you've seen your tier credits reduced from pointplay action, that's either coincidence or a glitch in the MLife system.

People have seen a reduction in tier credits before but it has to do with MLife auditing their accounts and reducing the tier credits for one reason or another.

This isn't true at all! PointPlay is separate from Tier Credits. When you play slots or video poker you get PointPlay, Express Comps and Tier Credits. They are all separate and using one doesn't affect the others.

    Wrong. Wrong. Wrong.

Tier level is never impacted negatively by anything, other than annual reset. Nev
    er.

Some casinos allow you to redeem your Express Comps or Reward credits for freeplay, but it never impacts your tier.

My bad, wrong term on the tier level points, it is the standard points it shows on your card while in the machine it pulls from. No need to yell :nworthy:

Not so much yelling at you (OP), but instead trying to get the attention of others that might assume the posting was valid. And, not sure what points you are referring to in this post, but when you take pointplay, or only pulls from pointplay.

Really glad to hear Tier Credits aren't affected, cause I always use my point play before leaving town:peace:
