I'm addicted to my shark vacuum. It's suction is so strong it feels like it's self-propelled. They aren't cheap but certainly less than if you had a Dyson!

I have the Irobot and it is the best, it goes under most of my furniture, goes all along the walls around all the chair legs. I love it it is so easy we just set the time we want it to vacuum and off it goes. It does a pattern of all your rooms and if you don't want a room done you can close the doors. i have hardwoods and tile in my house all one floor. I am amazed at the dirt that it finds. I wash my looks every day after my robot dusts them. I don't know how I survived without it. It picks up the finest hairs and dirt.

If you need a vacuum buy one, dont buy the cheapest(or second cheapest), and definitely dont buy some $500 gadget that does stuff you dont need. I'm sure for $100 you can get a nice one.

I have 2 Dysons, an upright and a cannister. With one dog that sheds more and more as he ages, it is a necessity. The upright is heavy as hell so I recommend the cannister.

I have a couple of vacuums but if course, if you never use them they dont seem to do much good. At least thats been my experience.

Hands down the best one is the kenmore one from sears.

Just got a shark at Target, the one below the top model, it really sucks. Which is good. Lightweight and the vacuum part can be removed to do stairs, no bag.

Vacuum cleaner? Oh, is that the noisy thing the housekeeper pushes around every other week?

We, too, own the Shark Navigator Freestyle and love it!

For me, the best features are: 1. the excellent suction power, 2. lightweight and easy to maneuver, and 3. the dust canister is easy to clean.

Dyson - got one off of QVC with flex pay a couple of months ago. Wish I would have got a Dyson years ago. There is a reason other vacuums claim they are just as good as a Dyson

Agreed, in addition to my Dysons, I have a Shark that I use for my nightly quick vacuums and it would be great if there were no pets but you should see what the Dyson can pick up the morning after my run around with the Shark the night before. My little guy doesn't shed but I could make a stuffed animal out of the hair the Dyson finds. Our main floor is hardwood and travertine and our downstairs is hardwood but our upstairs is carpet (for now) and the Dyson pulls out the hair you don't know is there.

We need to replace a Hoover Wind Tunnel that's about 10 years old and is the god-awful, heaviest thing to push-around. I really liked the look of the Dyson ball machines for maneuverability, but I too have read they're not all they're cracked-up to be. The Sharks do get really good reviews from what I've read, but I put one together for the office a year ago and really thought it was rather flimsy and cheap feeling.

I picked up a used Dyson animal off of CraigsList a while back. After I cleaned the filters, and roller it works like a charm. Kind of scary on what it picks up.
