From past visits to Aria, I know the comped drinks playing VP at the bars can be tricky (max bets required, 30 min space between drinks). Sometimes I just want to slide in a $20, get a comped drink or two, smoke a couple cigarettes and play slow and low (.25 - $1 bets). This pretty much seems out of the question at Aria so I was thinking about heading over to Monte Carlo...

Are there any bars on the casino floor at Monte Carlo with bar top video poker?
Is it worth the hike from the Aria casino to the MC casino?
I'm not too concerned with odds/payouts.

Sportsbook bar has bar tops. In general there are very few video poker machines at MC.

Yep, by the sportsbook there are several. There are also some in HIT I believe. There are many regular VP machines on the floor, a few 50-play and 100-play but not much for STP, UX, or other varieties (at least as of September).

In June there were not VP bar tops at the Hit bar that's all the way to left (opposite end from the bathroom) if you're walking in from the main floor.

There is a nice VP bar right in the front by Diablo's that makes nice cocktails.

I second the front entrance bar. They want you to play quarters, but last time I was there (5 months) they offered drinks pretty quickly, especially with a $5 initial tip. Paytables not good, but it's an alright spot with the foot traffic coming in from the strip.

Do they still have the 15 minute rule on drinks?

I didn't know MC had a rule like this. I can survive on 15 min but 30 min at the Aria would be driving me crazy!

I've spent a good amount of time at the bar by the entrance and never heard anything about a 15 minute rule. They did tell a friend she needed a player's card in the machine and a $20 buy-in to be comped. Typically poor strip bartop paytables with a progressive.

I agree the pay tables are pretty rough but I have seen the progressive over $2000 at the quarter level on many occasions. The service there has always been pretty solid. Not outstanding, but they keep you in drinks.
