have booked to go to Vegas for a week in December

But I haven't been to Vegas for nearly 3 years and therefore no comps are available to me.

I've been in touch with a host and explained my plans for gambling but sort of understandably she is only able to back end comp me.

I've agreed a deal of $3400 inclusive of taxes and fees for a penthouse panoramic view sky suite for 7 nights.
Does that sound like a good initial deal?
I've been on Mlife and could get a cypress suite at The Bellagio for about the same. God knows what I could get at other hotels for that money - though I'm pretty set on wanting to stay at the Aria this time. Have always stayed at the Bellagio but feel it's finally time to move on.
All I keep reading is people getting daily vouchers, free daily buffets, daily spending money etc.
I reckon I'll get something back at the end of the trip but should I be pushing harder for a better deal initially?

    Cheers

That's a decent price for that room. I don't think you need to push for anything more upfront because you're not truly getting anything upfront. Understand that back end comps are not guaranteed. If you don't gamble enough, you're paying for that suite. Not really sure what more you're thinking of requesting upfront, but if you want something more, just get it and charge it to your room. Again, if you gamble enough, it should be comped on the back end. If you don't, then you're paying for it, whether you ask for it up front or just get it after you arrive

    Thanks for the reply.

I'm not actually sure what I'm trying to say!

I'm ok with the cost of the room if I end up having to pay it all myself.

It just doesn't feel like they are fighting hard enough to get me - but I probably have delusions of grandeur about my gambling.
And though I know my plans and budget I suppose they don't

Plan to charge everything to my room and see what happens

You're right. They aren't fighting for your business at all. Not only for the reason you point out, but also that is Aria's reputation. They really want to see your play before they care at all

First off, you could gamble a million bucks and they could just say, thanks for visiting. Back end comps are probably the biggest gamble they offer. And they hold the cards -LOL!

Without any idea of how much you are going to put into play, it is hard to even guess. And even then, it is hard to guess. Aria seems to be the tighest among MGM. Bellagio is also tight but not as bad.

Pretty good price for the room. Personally, I have trouble paying that much outright for a suite. I do of course pay via my casino donations.

I've got a host from time gone by at The Bellagio and i know he'd offer me something, but I I'd rather try the Aria

Why would the hosts be any different from MGM hotel to hotel? Wouldn't they all work to the same general policy?

Part of it is that they have discretion, so you're going to see variance from host to host, not just property to property, but generally speaking, no, the hosts are not going to offer the same things at different properties, because your place on their spectrum is going to differ a ton depending on where you're staying. A $500/hand player at Excalibur will be a much, much higher priority, where you're pretty much at the top of the totem pole, than at Aria, where you're on their radar but on the lower end of what a host will care about.

I'm new to MLife as I have been Diamond at Caesars for about 5 years. We had a short weekend visit to Vegas a few weeks ago and stayed at Excalibur (because that's where everyone else in our group was staying). I racked up quite a few losses there...actually enough to bump me up to Gold. I have a trip coming in December with a friend to go to a wedding at Aria. I called to book a room there and they quoted me what was pretty much the rack rate. I told them that I was Diamond at Caesars and that THEY would have given me a free room. I also let them know that I planned to lose more money. The agent asked me to hold on while they went to talk to someone. They came back with "OK, I spoke with a host and we will give you the room comped and a $250 free play". I was pretty happy with that. I guess the moral is that sometimes you get someone on a "good" day and they are willing to do more for you.

All the MLIFE hotels do work for the same company, but at the same time, each casino has it's own mgmt. Combine the desire and drive of the local mgr and the push down from corporate/expectations and things will change from casino to casino. Heck, stuff will vary a bit even day to day at each casino

    That's a good price, I think.

I logged into MLife and looked up the 20% Tier Discount for Sun Dec 10 to Sun Dec 17 and it was $3,600 before taxes and fees (which would add another $682.88).

So it sounds like they're giving you a casino rate. That's probably as good as you can expect unless they can pull up your last trip and see that you'd cover it easily.
