If you peruse any of the 1,234 steakery threads, the common thread is ... no commonality. Good steak is readily replicated across Vegas, so as often as not the preference comes down to ambience and location as much as anything else. When dealing with equality in beef, proper cooking techniques and some uniformity in know-how, I guess the one open question is the aging process, though dry aging predominates. (Some will say if it's not Wagyu it's Hormel, I don't necessarily agree.) And every steakery held up here as the essence of virginal purity and goodness will have a detractor, and both sides are "correct." We've long gone in for Charlie Palmer Steak. We're just as happy at Delmonico or Craftsteak, or for a throw-back experience, Golden Steer, to name but a few viable candidates.

Any major hotel's signature steak house and you can't go wrong as others have said it's a constant question and there are no real common answers.

My choices: SW, Prime, Craftsteak, Jean Georges

If your talking just a prime steak, the quality of meat is similar across the board. And most probably come from Pat LaFrieda. Other then specialty cuts, The distinguishing part is how they are cooked. Some are broiled, grilled, seared and roasted, etc. I like the way Ruth's Chris makes their steak. I like how Heritage Steak cooks over an open flame.

Sides, apps, and desserts are also different, so check some menus for what sounds good. Any high end hotel steakhouse won't disappoint.

Since you have your Diamond voucher, I would suggest Gordon Ramsay Steak. It may be a little overrated, but it's a must try at least once. I've also had good experiences at BLT steak at Bally's (a bit cheaper than GR too).

Outback has won best steakhouse from the LVRJ a few times. Give it a shot.

CET does not seem to rate as highly in general on the steakhouse front. Some people love Strip House at PH but I was not impressed. If I was going to try using a diamond voucher at a steakhouse, I'd probably opt for Old Homestead at CP,

Casting a wider net, can't go wrong with CUT, Delmonico, or Gordon Ramsey steak. Carnevino people seem to either love or hate

I MUST remember to click on the "post reply button! I want to thank everyone for their ideas! I understand it is a subjective thing, but so is just about everything else! And, with so many steakhouses on/near the strip, I wanted some thoughts and advice from my compadres here. I am hoping to try two this trip- Ruth's Chris likely will be one, maybe Ramsey's or BLT for the other. CET has gotten me in their grip- if I spend some major coin on a meal, helping my various scores figures into the equation! Hopefully with two/three trips a year I will experience many of the above suggestions over time!

Is this the same as the Outbacks all over the country? I do like Outback, but I'll opt for something unavailable near me whilst in Vegas.

You can try Ruth's Chris pretty much anywhere. Why not go somewhere you can't go at home? Jean-George, Carnevino, Heritage Steak, SW, among many others that come to mind.

    lol

Outback wins "best" in most of those surveys. Like Taco Bell nailing best Mex or Panda Express taking the Szechuan title.
