We watch the same ones every year. The Ghost and Mr. Chicken with Don Knotts and Abbot and Costello meet Frankenstein. -- Two of my all time favorites. I am not into movies like Saw or Nightmare on Elm Street -- to this day the scariest movie I have ever seen was the original Halloween when I was 17 years old. My boyfriend - now my husband, took me to see it. I laid awake all night long and waited until my parents got up the next morning before I could go to sleep.

Last Halloween my sister was in town. She used to watch "Dark Shadows" on TV when she was little, so I played the film, which is much more campy than scary. Everyone received garlands of homegrown garlic to wear around the neck.

About ready to watch Hocus Pocus!

Use to love the classic slasher films and the George Romero zombie films.... But there's only so many times I can watch the sAme horror movies.

You would probably like "Arsenic and Old Lace" - ghoulish but funny, like the 2 you mentioned :)

I saw one recently that isn't at all scary, but hilarious - "What We Do In The Shadows" about 4 Vampire roomates. I laughed so much!

Hocus Pocus & Casper (ABC Family 13 nights of Halloween) and all 4 Halloweentown movies on Disney Channel.

I don't like scary movies. I like campy fun movies. Yes, I'm a 40 yr old woman without kids who watches Disney Channel :Þ

Dang those monkeys still freak me out!!!!

Halloween is also when I pull out the Rocky Horror Soundtrack (I can watch some but not all of the movie - but I'll listen to the soundtrack all week during my commute ;-)

Halloween 3 with Tom Atkins. Has nothing to do with the franchise, but it was played several times late at night when I was in the hospital a few years back and I couldn't sleep. Love it, cult classic!

I highly recommend a movie on Netflix called "Tucker and Dale vs. Evil". It's a horror comedy about two rednecks in West Virginia minding their own business at their vacation cabin in the woods when a bunch of college kids mistaken them for slasher serial killers. Hijinks ensue which leads to ridiculous (and hilarious) bloody mayhem. I haven't laughed that much in a very long time.

No matter how many times I watch this movie I still crack up. Teri Garr is a hottie.

Ditto that Hoya. The first time I saw "The Wizzard of Oz" I was about five years old. Those damn flying monkeys gave me nightmares for months. To this day whenever I watch it I have flashbacks to waking up in a cold sweat.

As far as recommendations go for Halloween viewing I concur with "The Shining". Can't go wrong with Stanley Kubrick films.

My husband likes Love at First Bite with George Hamilton and a young Susan St. James--- his favorite line "Children of the night -- shut up!" and of course Leslie Nielsen in Dead and Loving It (at least I think that is the title)

We love Young Frankenstein too - it's a favorite for plane trips - but haven't thought to watch it on Halloween.....

And yes, my husband (and my dad, come to think of it) have a thing for the young Teri Garr ;-)

    "Elevate me!"

We showed this film as a fund raiser one night long ago. My student helper, who claimed he knew how to run 16mm projectors, didn't. So I did. You switch projectors at the second blotch.
