Table Games CRAPS tables for a newbie, low roller ?

I've recently learned how to play craps, but have only played at the local casinos in Illinois, Wisconsin, and Michigan.

My ideal craps table is loud and lively, with high fives all around. My wife likes to watch me at an exciting table, but doesn't play.

No salty old guys who get mad when a rookie makes a mistake, but not frat boys who have no idea how to play. I prefer $5 tables, to make my money last a while.

Staying on the strip, but playing downtown a lot also.

Suggestions for where to play?

 

$3 minimum 2x odds at the Fremont. $5 minimum 20x odds at Main Street Station.
Most places downtown will be $5.

but those will all be $10 min

 

Played $5 craps at Luxor and Excalibur a few weeks ago. Both were a blast.

 

Margaritaville would be my suggestion.

 

Downtown I would recommend the Golden Gate or The D. If that is too loud than try Four Queens or MSS. Just be aware that MSS has gotten extremley cheap with the comps.

 

I have to suggest MSS for it's 20X odds and that you will be playing with a bunch of hawaiian folks who always have a great time and are always friendly. They also have there own brewery so you can get a really good beer while playing. Make sure you get a players club card so you can get points for playing. I have found that there system for points can add up very quickly and every 600 points equal $1 towards food. I played for an hour betting $5 plus odds and got credited for over 3000 points because they use a computer to track play and it considers every roll as a new bet and automatically adds it to your card after every roll.

 

I was in Vegas this past week. Both Paris and PH had $5 tables on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon.

 

Casino Royale used to run a lively low-rent game, different from everyone else in the area. Used to get pretty rowdy at times.

 

+1. Midweek they often split the table to $5 on the north end and $10 on the south end of the table.

 

How much in odds are you taking?

I start with 5X and have gone up as high as 15X when there is a good shooter.

 

You think they considered odds in the rating? Seems like a quick and easy way to rack up some points.

 

If they include odds in the rating (and they often do) they will also factor the fact that you are using odds in your rating, so it doesn't really matter in principle.

 

They must as I was only there 2 nights and racked up over 11,000 points on a $5 table

 

I'd suggest The D or GG as well. The D can get kind of loud at night, but Golden Gate is fun without the music being blasting. They're both 10x odds. And, I don't think I've ever seen a $10 table, at least during the week.
Golden Nugget is normally $10 and 3-4-5.
Fremont is $3 2x odds
El Cortez is also $3, and I think they do 3-4-5. Can't remember right off.

 

If nearby the Bellagio Fountains, ask around for a guy called D-Train. He runs a pretty lively game behind Caesars Palace between the dumpsters usually in the wee hours of the night. Cash only please.

 

I HIGHLY recommend Ellis Island!!! The stickmen are very friendly. I actually learned to play there and when I told them I was new they had no problem telling me where I was going wrong. Of course I would slip them a pass line bet or a hard way bet every so often. And the beer is cheap there as well.

Just remember the craps table does not open till 6 pm

 

Can't do better than the Fremont. Low limits. Plus the 2x odds scares off the self-declared craps "experts".
