My best friend and I are planning a trip for her 40th birthday. We will be there at the beginning of March. She is a vegetarian, but eats some seafood. When I said that i wanted to take her out she requested that i find something we can have "only in Vegas". The first thing that I thought of was the view of the strip. Does anyone have any good ideas? This is sort of a budget trip, but I am happy to splurge on this meal (think Eiffel Tower restaurant but not Joel Robuchon tasting). Thanks for the help!

Voodoo Lounge - it's a great dinner with cool view of the strip. You can also go out on the balcony for a couple drinks before dinner, overlooking the strip is pretty awesome from there.
    Good luck!

Good suggestion. I haven't been over there in ten years. I will take a look at the menu.

I want to stay on the strip. And I have decided i want something a little bit casual. With a view. Considering Olives or Milos for the early tasting menu. Interested in other ideas. Has anyone eaten at the place that replaced Mix in MB complex?

Twist at Mandarin Oriental. Before, after, or both, you can lounge at the Mandarin Bar. Twist and Mandarin Bar are on the 23rd floor and have spectacular views of the strip, both north and south. The chef for Twist is Pierre Gagnaire.

Actually, I forgot to mention that Twist is quite pricey. But if you go have a drink and lounge at the Mandarin Bar, the views are spectacular.

One idea is going to The STRAT and go up to lounge 107. Unlike most folks who pay $15-$20 just to go up there if you go the kiosk for lounge 107 they will take you up for free and have 1/2 price happy hour food. It's a great place to watch a sunset while seeing all the lights on the strip turn on

Mon Ami Gabi at Paris. It's the place with the outdoor seating and the Bellagio fountains across the street.

This one is on my short list. My concern is that March 3rd we might not be able to sit outside bc it might be too cool.

I have never had their dinner, only breakfast. Have you eaten dinner there?

Excellent. They have a vegetarian tasting menu. This is on my short list. Have you been? Is it dressy? I sort of want a place that we could wear nice jeans/heels if we are tired. I am afraid Twist might be too nice for that.

Vegetarian menu price is pretty good. Have you eaten here? Is it worth that $$$$$?

Yes, i will put it on the list. Definitely an "only in Vegas" experience. I ate there once and did not love it, but the view is fantastic. Cab there and back though, i wonder if it more economical to eat mid strip. Pay more for food/view. Slightly better food, no cab fare. I will let my friend decide!

I have not eaten at Twist. I'm only forwarding hearsay about the place that it was good. I may go there one of these days to try it, but for that price, I'd like to try Joel Robuchon at MGM first. I have been to the Mandarin Bar for a drink and loved the view.

Thanks! It gets amazing reviews on yelp, so I am favoring it. But it really is expensive.

Never had any trouble with the temperature out on the patio there in winter (I go nearly every December). The heaters are great and make it comfortable.
