I'm surprised it's taken the NGC this long to go after their slice of the pie.

I think this is just the beginning. I sure hope not, because I have really enjoyed playing this year! I guess we will see whose lobbyists have the most steam.

They just flew too close to the sun. I honestly think they would have been fine had they not gone nuts with advertising the sites every ten seconds; that, coupled with the issue with their employees betting on opposing sites, was probably the death knell. The good news is that the "gambling" label probably won't stick for daily fantasy, at least at the federal level, and DraftKings/FanDuel will just get hit with just common-law fraud charges, though that won't help the existing sites.

I'm sure the NGC specifically said daily or weekly in their ruling right. Wouldn't want to upset the casinos that host big time league draft parties. Because the season long fantasy is soooo different. Everyone needs to get their hands in the dough. What a crock of shit. I don't even play fantasy, I just hate to see over regulation of everything.

This was actually brilliant on the part of the NGC. If they don't comply, they are out of Nevada. If they DO comply, they are now a gambling operation and potentially out of most other states because of the messy internet gaming regulations. I don't have any skin in the game either way, but when I see a politically savvy move, I gotta call it out. I do hope one outcome is for more legalized sports betting. And I am scratching my head at the huge investments in these companies considering the legally murky space they are operating in. I was shocked to see that Disney had put into one of these companies considering what happened to the poker sites.

I have a buddy that works for the Illinois Attroney General and he said that Illinois will be banning it soon since online gambling is illegal in Illinois and this would be classified as online gambling soon

Won't be shocked. Compete for cash games like GSN network are banned so I don't know how DFS sites were running here.

was expecting as much given IL history w/online poker. I had a good weekend and cashed everything out today just in case it gets "messy"... and by "messy" i mean they hold the cash....like the IL lottery :)

Wanted to add, It's actually kind of shocking to me this was ever legal, at least in such a big, obvious sense. With 1.5% of the bettors winning the money, its a pretty stacked deck against the average player. I gave it a shot just for fun and had some good luck with golf and smaller micro-pools. I like the 3-20 entrant size for NFL, I noticed on Draft Kings there is one guy who is in all the pools. He will be the only entrant in the huge ones where 3 guys put in $10,000 and winner takes all.

Also noticed up to 12% vig on some of the contests--hell if anything should be illegal its that slot machine-level Vig!!!

I didn't see any commercials over the weekend. I think Draft Kings and Fan Duel poked the bear.

I just recently started playing. As BeeJay said I have had the best luck doing the smaller 10 man tournaments. I took first in one this weekend pretty easily. The bigger tournaments I opted out of. I ended up even money last weekend but was kind of freaked to see out of the three bigger tournaments I was in the same guy was winning two of them. The odds on that would be really high considering there are hundreds and he and I end up in the same two?? Oh well just kind of freaked me a bit.

I will continue the 10 man tournaments and the ones that just double your money if you end up in the top 50%. I don't think the sites are long for the world and keep less than a hundred in my account for fear of it being locked at any point.

For me the 6% Vig on golf was OK with the sign on bonus lowering the cost even more, but the 12% on some football and seeing how these 2 players try to create straddles in the 3 man. Guaranteed you can put in a lineup that has 0% chance of winning outright. I don't trust it at all, whether it's small group collusion or big tourney analytics. 1.3% winners and 12% cost---I'm out.

The attorney general ordered them to stop taking bets. Vegas wins again.
