Perhaps it's just me, I doubt it though, but does anyone else have a ritual for the final few days leading to a Vegas trip?

Granted I've only been 5 times but I always watch the old What Happens in a vegas commercials that the tourism authority created, read even MORE TRs if possible lol, and get some new music ready (EDM and no I'm not some meathead haha, my music tastes are jersey shore but I have a doctorate degree lol).

I head down this Thursday, first trip since early 2013, and the first solo trip where I can do whatever the hell I want and am so excited. I have a few days to work but honestly, I've already checked out haha.

What do you do to get ready for those last few days leading up to a trip?

Kinda simple for me..I write down a checklist of things to do.Ac or Vegas..

Get 2 wallets ready (The real and one with expired DL I use on casino floor)
    Get the casino cards out
Get the Credit cards out used (Harrahs's if staying there(CET) other for emergency backup
Throw $80 in my car to cover airport parking $11 a day long-term at RSW
The actual travel bag is packed a week before just waiting for the shaving/toilety stuff to go into.. and laptop pc (Vegas longer stay or tablet for short AC)
But no need to watch videos etc...It's home away from is all in both cities

Have a great trip Landry and Rock on with Jersey....(Oops by the DMV gave me a year older than I was) there saw Bruce a few Sunday nights at the Pony in 1975)

In the month before my trip, I put together a 1000 piece puzzle of the strip. I've done this before five of my six trips to LV.

Thanks James! I'm so used to AC that Vegas will be a culture shock since it's been a few years.

I'm also a bit ashamed to say it but I came across that Sister Wives show earlier and kept it on once I figured it out they're in Vegas just so I could see the panoramas of the strip! Then I realized that while it's an atrocious show, it's about polygamy which is also interesting. I actually drove through a small town that practiced polygamy out west years ago (Hildale, UT) but the people on this show look a lot nicer than the ones in that town I encountered lol.

Make sure I have all my limos, dinners, golf, massages, etc set.

    Make any last minute changes.

    Print out my itinerary.

Put my plan and goals together for the trip.

Text friends and try to guilt them into showing up last minute.

Make sure I'm mentally prepared to crush the casino.

    Good question!

My bride and I are usually up to our armpits in work right up to our trip so usually I get our shared suitcase out of the dungeon--I mean basement--the night before our flight and do laundry of anything we'll be taking with. I also mosey on in to the local dollar store to put some minutes on my "pay-as-you-go" cell phone that I only have with so my folks have a number to reach me at while they're watching my kids. I also have to charge said phone as it just sits in a drawer in-between Vegas trips.

The last few trips my parents have actually volunteered to take my kids a day or two before our departure, which makes the whole packing and get-to-the-airport day a whole lot more relaxing!

    Have a great trip, LB9!

May I ask the reasoning for the expired DL? I just got a new DL, and I still have my expired one. Maybe I have a use for it now. I know that PH doesn't accept expired DLs for ID.

My husband does this because his older expired one has a much, much, better picture.

In many states, if not all, using expired DL is not just invalid, it is illegal.
When you receive the new one, the letter coming with it should say something like "destroy the old one",
in such case, you have no excuse to say "sorry, I carried the wrong one in my wallet".

Have a great trip Landry, hope you crush it! As for any ritual, my trip is just under 3 weeks with two weekends left, so I prepare my travel bathroom bag and start to sort a few of the shirts and pants I plan to bring. Biggest thing is I try and fight the urge to go to AC each week :) I have failed the last three of four weeks at that. Also am way move active on this board when I have a trip booked, even with the workweek being hectic.

Thanks Richard and tbone! I really can't wait, so ready to get out of town and while this will be my first solo trip, excited to really do whatever crosses my mind!

3 days and counting, I suppose I should get tapatalk downloaded so I can do the whole somewhat live TR (not entirely live bc I would fail miserably).

As for AC, tbone no idea how you can live so close and have any control haha. I live 3.25 hours away and still pass Baltimore casinos on the way to hit AC Instead because while it's not Vegas, I still love AC. I actually enjoy the people there too and always have had a fondness for Jersey girls :) lol.

I'm paranoid about losing the real one so I keep it in the safe. The expired one works at the gift shops, restaurants when paying with comps. It does not work at the Reward desks though.I can't imagine the hassle of dealing with the TSA w/o a valid ID.I imagine having the expired would help my case also say if the real one was lost or stolen.

Few days before trip? I usually book them several months in advance so on the months leading up to the
trip my online activity increases. Mainly viewing this site, looking at Picts & Videos, Posting & Planning.
I also have a Travel Check List that I print out a few days before I leave to help me get organized.

We drive in, so packing is quick, easy and pretty much last second. Vegas is very turnkey in that regard. I might make a few tee times in advance and arrange a few things with the degens.

Now other locales take forethought and planning!!

I usually take the last few days making sure I have all my stuff ready. I usually have a trip itinerary complete with a checklist to make sure I don't forget anything. (once I forgot to bring along a jacket during the winter. I was in a rush and just threw things into my suitcase but I forgot that one thing.....froze and had to buy one up there).

It's funny because the last few days I end up sleeping on the couch (I live alone....no comments from the peanut gallery, lol) since I keep my suitcase and carry on and backpack on my bed so I can go through them and make sure I have everything. I usually use that time to charge up my notebooks and tablets, cameras and mp3 players and rechargeable batteries (which I use on my headphones, etc.). It's funny because I would get up in the middle of the night because I just remembered that I needed to put something in my carry on. I always seem to think I'm missing something even though I have the check list.

I also keep a spare expired license in my suitcase. I have it just in case something happens to my regular license. I once had a friend who had her purse stolen, it was a pain because she had a hard time getting through TSA without it. She had to get a copy of the police report and have the Hawaii DMV fax over a copy of her license (all at her cost), but normally they don't do that kind of thing. If I get into a similar situation I could at least show them my police report and my old expired license with the hope that they will let me on the plane.

We pull out the carry ons a week before to air them out and make sure there are no critters.....we live on 3 acres and sometimes things like to hitchhike. Then pull the cash out of the bank and stash it in the safe.
Makikiboy, we too have forgotten the jacket in the winter. Had to buy one at the Honolulu airport so he wouldn't freeze on the plane. Now it's the lucky jacket!
