We took the red eye flight out of Austin on Saturday night. Think if we do this again, we will leave on Friday night as waiting all day Saturday to head to the airport was boring. Flight was fine, no issues, and we arrived in Vegas about 11:30 pm. Got our bags and took the shuttle to Payless to get the car. Even this late at night there was a small line but didn’t take long to get taken care of. Get all the paperwork taken care of and go down to get the car and I notice they had assigned us a Kia – oops, no we reserved the standard size, not economy. Back upstairs and no Chrysler 200’s available (they don’t even carry those in LV). We get a Nissan Altima instead. It was ok, nothing special, nothing bad. Drove down the strip and we’re in VEGAS!
Arrive at Plaza around 1 am. No line. Small issue with reservation, we were on a BOGO offer but the clerk tried to charge us for all 4 nights. Got that fixed and up to the room we head. Got the exact room we had last stay. 8th Floor South Tower. Noticed that the scent in the casino is a LOT better, not as strong, didn’t burn my eyes or irritate my nose. Great improvement.

    Sunday, Sept. 20
Breakfast at Dupars. The French toast was excellent and LG enjoyed his eggs. Headed over to Sam’s town. Stopped in Walmart to pick up a few thing as it was right across the street. Played my favorite slot machine, won $104.00. LG and I played in the 1 pm Poker Tourney. This was my 1st tourney, LG’s 2nd. I was 4th out at the table but LG made it to final table, but was 1st out there. While I was waiting on LG I lost$60.00 on slots. Headed back to the Plaza about 4 to meet up with Carol from the VMB. We met up at Magnolias and had the prime rib special. You can either use the BOGO offer or the Club member’s price but not both. Oh well. We used the BOGO.
After dinner we settled in at the BJ tables at Plaza. Played for 6.5 hrs , LG -15.00 w/ 10 BJ, Me + 40.00 w/ 15 BJ.

    Monday, Sept. 21
Today had several activities so we drove to the Trop. Walked to Rainforest Café for brunch. Had burgers and they were HUGE. Walked to Miracle Mile shops to get a pearl ring repaired and ended up buying an additional necklace. Pearl was huge and the setting is beautiful. Walked back down to MGM and did the CSI experience. This was a small disappointment. A 10 year old should have been able to “solve” the crime. I thought it would require a little more “thinking”.
Headed to the Tropicana as we are seeing Raiding the Rock Vault tonight. Had some time to kill so checked out the tables – Nope not playing here, lowest buy in $10.00 and pay 6/5. Lost $70.00 on slots instead LOL! Went to Raiding the Rock Vault. Excellent show! A lot less “cheesy” than it was at Hilton and more music! We recommend this show if you love rock concerts and good music. Was supposed to have dinner at MGM buffet but neither of us was that hungry before the show so just grabbed a couple of slices of pizza from Pop up Pizza when we returned to the Plaza.
Played BJ for about 3 hrs. LG – even, 7 BJ, Me -$80.00 with 7 BJ

    Tuesday, Sept 22
Woke up way too early, 9 am but again another busy day. Breakfast at Mon Ami Gabby. I had the ham and cheese Crepe, while LG had the ham & cheese omelet. This was the best breakfast and second best meal of the trip. LG said the coffee was delicious and I could tell the OJ was fresh squeezed – YUMMY! Service was perfect.
Drove over to the Wynn just to check it out. It was pretty, and pretty pricey. I was surprised that all of the floral decorations were silks rather than fresh but guess fresh just wouldn’t last very long. Casino looked nice but was very quiet, not very many people playing anything.
Drove back over to LINQ, parked and walked over to Caesars so I could get my lemon daiquiri. The place I remembered is gone but got one at the outdoor bar. Wasn’t the same, not near as good and about 2x the price (30.00) but I drank it anyway. Over to the Bellagio Conservatory. Got some beautiful pictures and saw 2 brides getting pictures. Ate dinner at The Buffet – not impressed, most of the food was lukewarm at best, very little flavor and the deserts just didn’t live up to all the hype. The most flavorful thing we tried was a raspberry sorbet. Was glad we had the MyVegas BOGO but still felt we overpaid for what we were served. At least now I can say I’ve tried it. Played a couple of slots – won $100.00, then lost $20.00.
Walked over to Linq for the High Roller. They stop the ride for handicap access. There were 6 of us in the POD. It moves so slow that you really don’t notice it is moving, unless they have to stop to let someone on or off. The view is impressive and we took lots of photos.
Show tonight was Frank Moreno’s Divas. It’s really unbelievable what gorgeous women some of those guys are. A few need to work on their lip syncing but over all a fun show.
Got back to our room, exhausted and ready for bed, only to find the room smelled horrible – like something died in the room. The day before the lamp by the desk had broken and we had reported it. Now there was no lamp at all. Had to go to the front desk after being on hold for over 10 minutes as the smell was overwhelming. Front desk calls housekeeping so we decide to play some BJ to kill some time. Played for about 1.5 hrs. LG -$100.00 and 3 BJ, me – 65.00 and only 1 BJ. Get back to the room and now it smells of deodorizer and yuck but the lamp has been replaced. I head back the desk and LG runs over to Walgreens and gets some Febreeze. There is no other room we can be moved to, best they can do is remove the resort fees and give us a late checkout. We sprayed the Febreeze on the carpet, curtains, and bed and after a bit the room is tolerable

    .Wednesday, Sept 23
Again up way too early, but we have to pack and check out. LG loads the car and I ride the scooter over to MSS. At 1st the only accessible room was 2 queen beds – but I have to have help in and out of bed so that is a problem. The king room only had a tub not a shower and I can’t step over the side of the tub to shower so that is a problem. After about 10 minutes and the clerk being on the phone, we finally have a King, roll in shower room and it’s even smoking. Get up stairs and I LOVE the room. I don’t even need my step stool to get into the bed! Get unpacked and head down to the tables. We play for about 3 hrs.at the 2 deck pitch game, LG +$30, me -$50.00.
Went up and changed for dinner at Oscars. We shared soup, salad and side of potatoes and each had the Lobster and filet special and a glass of Merlot. Food was delicious - best meal of the trip and service was perfect. However, if given a choice between Oscars and Hugo’s; we would prefer Hugo’s.
After dinner we headed over to the D to see Defending the Caveman. Not exactly what we expected and therefore it was more enjoyable than expected. Very surprised and would recommend this show – GREAT for couples, lots of laughs! Then it was more BJ at MSS. LG -$60.00, me -$60 and I forgot to write down today’s BJ but between us there were 13.

    Thursday, Sept 24
Thought we had gotten up in time for Breakfast at the buffet but they were already closing stations down and LG wanted BREAKFAST so we headed over to Magnolia’s. After eating we walked over to DTG to check it out. We almost left because we couldn’t find the BJ tables. They are now in a small alcove that used to be the High Limit room. A couple of tables were open and it was about noon. Decided to sit and play a few hands $ 5.00, shoe, DAS. Played for about 3.5 hrs and I left down $237, which was my worst session to date but I got 23 BJ’s. LG left down $112.00 and had 16 BJ
Saw Geordie Brown at GN. Decent show, but not great especially for the price. Used the ACG bogo, but there is a catch, you can only use it on tickets that are $40.00 and up oh and there are no mid-priced accessible seats so instead of expected cost of 25.00 we paid 60.00 for 1 ticket using the bogo. Had a couple of laughs but took us a bit to figure out what he was doing as he does more comedic impressions than true impressions. Not horrible but not great either.
After the show decide to head back over to the Plaza for some more BJ as we prefer the rules on the 6 deck shoe over the 2 deck pitch at MSS. Started out in the Party pit as tables in the main casino were full. I don’t like it. Too loud, too much echo and lots of Techno music. After a restroom break I noticed the tables weren’t as full so we moved to the casino. Fair session over all.LG +$40.00 17 BJ,s Me, =$18.00 14 BJ. Played for about 3 – 4 hrs before calling it a night. Walking back to MSS we found $12.00 on the ground. Looked but there was nobody around so into the pocket it went. Got a late checkout (2pm) as our flight isn’t until midnight.

    Friday, Sept 25th
I can’t believe I’m up this early – 8:15 and I’m wide awake. Woke LG up while trying to take my shower – kept dropping things. Got dressed, repacked (cut it close on the one bag – limit 50 lbs, weight 49.5 – damn I’m good). Checked the bags at the bell desk and went down for breakfast at the buffet. Good food as usual. Had most of the day to play around so sat down at the tables at MSS. After about 2 hrs. LG wasn’t happy with the way things were going so we decided to cash out, LG -$100.00, 7 BJ, Me +$28.00 but only 3 BJ’s and head over to the Plaza. Getting back to the tables was a mess. The Check in line was clear down to the craps table. Found a couple of open seats and we played for 4 hrs. leaving a little later than we had planned. Sometime between our leaving Thurs. evening and returning Friday automatic shuffle machines gad been installed at the tables. At least 3 dealers expressed their displeasure with them. LG +95.00 7 bj, me -$92, 11 BJ.
Plan was to have dinner at Camelot Steakhouse at Excalibur before catching our plane but between playing too long at Plaza, getting the car loaded, dealing with traffic (Life is Beautiful rolling in), putting gas in the car and waiting in line for valet and in line to redeem the MyVegas voucher, time was getting short. Before redeeming the voucher, we asked them to call the Steakhouse, and there was a 40 minute wait. Wouldn’t have time for as it is now nearly 7:30 and we have to have the car back at 9:30. We ended up grabbing burgers at Johnny Rockets, not impressed I’ve had better. Then with some time to kill I put 40.00 in a 3 coin .25 Double Triple Wild Cherry. Played for about 45 minutes and walked away with 25.00. Not the big win and nice dinner we wanted to end the trip with but it was pretty much par for the course this trip.
Head back to the valet and our car is still in the drive. Get in and head over to the rental return and then airport. I’ve never seen the airport this quiet. Check in went well, flight home was smooth – slept most of the way Fun but not exciting, No big wins but no great losses . Over all it was a comfortable trip.

    Gambling : LG – $320.00 Me - $475.00
    Slots &Poker -300.00
    Food Cost $325.49
Looking forward to the next trip!

    Nice report!

Sucks you couldn't fit Camelot in (we booked our reservation the day of online), but if you haven't used the Tender award already, I would suggest using that one first. It's worth the extra spend.

    Thanks for the report BJL.
Happy to hear that the scent in the Plaza casino has been toned down.
I hope I don't experience that weird smell in my room like you did.
Maybe I should pack some Febreeze!:)

Great report BlackJackLady. You may not have had any big wins but "no big losses" is a "win" in my book, plus it sounds like you had an enjoyable trip where you did a lot but it wasn't too rushed and so was therefore relaxing AND you clearly played a lot of Black Jack! That all adds up to a great vacation. Congrats and thanks for taking the time to write.

No - for some reason, I'm still getting a Flickr error message :confused2: Hopefully it's just me and others can see them, but I have tried in both FF and Chrome.
