Has anyone booked the MGM Grand-West Wing King Room through MV and then been upgraded @ check in with the $20 trick?

They sent my wife an email a few days before our stay, to upgrade for less than $20 but we were already in town, and she never checked till we were home. Sure wish we had, that room was weird and a long walk.

Interesting! Do you know what the upgrade option was?
    Thanks for the feedback.

These rooms are terrible.. I would make sure I could get an upgrade or book something else. Maybe if your alone it would be ok, otherwise its terrible.

It's been a while but I think it was a Grand King for $15, If you can it will be the best $15 you ever spend.

Yeah, it's worth $15 more imo. I tried to upgrade last month, but I didn't make it clear I planned to give $20, so I failed.

when they first opened those "west wing" rooms, they were sold as an upgrade! they are pretty crappy, one time solo i checked in really early after not sleeping the night before and that's all they had ready so i took one... next time i'd wait

Asked for a "complimentary upgrade" but didn't have the money in sight yet (didn't use the sandwich). Was going to give her $20 if she did it for "good service".

West Wing rooms and blehh.....I have no interest in them. Grand King rooms, very nice.

Yes, I have upgraded the West Wing King through myVegas to a Grand King Room with a nice view. I used more than a $20 tip though, I think it was more like $60. But this was before they would only let you Redeem 1 night. I think we stayed there 3 nights on that trip through myVegas.

I ended up book a room at MB because the night I wanted was sold out at MGM. (MyVegas Rewards Comp)

Stayed in a West Wing King with no issue in March. Room was small but clean. We actually liked being right beside the strip when you walk out.

Were you near those elevators that led to the crappy arcade? Not all west wings are like that. But if you are stuck with one of those rooms, I would recommend a room near the west wing arcade elevators, so strip access is more convenient. And I agree the west wing king is not a terrible room. But a grand king really blows it away.

Those were the rooms. The crappy arcade was bar with music on the Saturday night that seemed to attract a pack of cougars.

I've stayed in the Grand King rooms and agree that they nicer than the West Wing. I just can't see them being called a terrible room since I have been in Harrahs and Circus.

Yeah, the West Wing rooms are pretty small. I stayed in one with a tiny window overlooking a roof.
If you can't get a Grande King. Stay somewhere else.
