Just wondering what the typical wait time is for handpays on main floors (not high limit rooms where they are just hanging around waiting for someone to hit) for the initial contact. Like how long before the appropriate personnel come get your info before they run off to get money? I've waited 10 to 15 minutes before, but then here recently I waited over 40 minutes before anyone even noticed. Was I just lucky before on getting quick attention? Or was the long wait abnormal?

The only place I had to wait close to 40 mins was at the Nugget. Just another reason in my long list of reasons to not give them a dime of my money.

I've had only one handpay. It took less than 5 minutes for the slot manager to come and collect my information. This was on the main slot floor at Mandalay Bay. I think their machines may automatically alert the appropriate people.

I would be pissed if I had to wait 40 minutes - wtf?

My husband and i were just talking about this- saturday night we went to Horseshoe in Bossier City- he won a handpay on a slot- It took 45 minutes at the machine- and they only came to write his receipt- he was so mad he went and sat at the poker tables and told them to come find him... another 30 minutes later and they finally came and paid him..... it was ridiculous... he gave our casino host an earful!!! she was in the building and had just came by to check on us!

The wait time is going to depend on the casino, how many slot attendants are working, time of day, how busy the casino is, if your machine's bell can be heard over the crowd more than a few feet, where you are in the casino, etc.

Its also going to depend on you: I've seen people hit a hand pay and then just sit their chair and stare at the machine and wait. When I get a hand pay I stand up and move to the nearest aisle and keep checking back and forth for a slot attendant I can wave over or somebody who works for the casino going by that I can have radio in that I need an attendant. You can also go to the machines on each end of the row you are playing and push their SERVICE buttons - that will make it easier for a slot attendant to see than a flashing one in the middle of a row.

If this is at a local casino you can also put their customer service phone number in your cell and if you've waited more than 10 minutes give them a call and tell them the machine number you are at and that you need an attendant.

I waited a FULL HOUR at Potawatomi in Milwaukee. When teh guy finally got back, he said their system did not have DC among the states, so he couldn't enter it in. So he had to call the IRS. It being a Saturday, the office wasn't exactly teeming with employees. So I sat there, listening to Celine Dion sing that song from Titanic over and over again, while people passed me for the fifth or sixth time, looking quizzical. My other hand pays were in the 20 minute range, though...NOLA, Tunica, Bally's Las Vegas.

My last one at NYNY, I waited 30 minutes, then I grabbed my phone, brought up the picture in my Vegas folder that had all the Hotel numbers on it, called, asked for Slot services and told them I had waited for 30 minutes, and my machine number.

They were there in one minute, affirmed that I had indeed waited 30 minutes, paid me off and gave me $50 in free play.

Get a list of Vegas Hotel phone numbers online, Print it out, take a picture of it. This wasn't the first time I had to call, Hand pays, Malfunctioning Machines, etc.

The few times I have had hand pays, its been about 20min.. However, I really don't mind the wait... the longer I wait, the less chance of the casino taking back my money I just won. I usually look for a cocktail waitress and order a drink, and relax and save money by not gambling.

I have only had one and it was at Aria. Attendant was there in less than five minutes and probably waited another 10-12 minutes for the cash

I don't know if non-jackpots treated differently but I felt like it took a while for MGM Grand to pay me at the Lion's Share. Perhaps it felt like a long time due to the line behind me waiting on the machine. I turned $30 into $200 and I didn't like having people stare over my shoulder so I thought I'd cut and run. It probably took about 15 minutes.

Actually, I often play on another machine... and give back much of what I already won (but have not received yet). Pisses me off. And of course, they often expect a tip....

    In a related note.

I usually do not sit at the machine once it hits. I move across the aisle. Sometimes I play, sometimes I just watch people try to put money into the "locked up" machine. Sort of funny.

If time does drag on, I will go looking for a slot person to get me paid.

15-20 minutes is the average I would say I have had to wait, but a woman my wife worked with whos husband hit one at a local NA place waited 5 hours+ to get a $3000 HP on a machine there.

Last year I had 28 hand pays and 16 so far this year. There is no magic number of minutes before someone shows up. Sometimes an attendant is there within two minutes other times I've waited close to 10 minutes. I sit right there next to my machine. My last AC trip it took about 5 minutes to show up and then another 15 to print out a check and W2-G. I really can't imagine no one showing for 40 minutes anywhere unless it's 4AM.

I sat at a table where it took 3-hours for someone to get paid. This was no ordinary jackpot; it was the $1M 6-Card Diamond Royal Flush at Planet Hollywood. I heard that a representative from Shufflemaster has to come to the casino to check-out the machine that dealt the hands. After 3-hours of waiting while drinking champagne, they gave him a tray of 30 $25k chips. Security escorted him to the cashier. I was sitting at the table next to him, and for the entire 3-hours, I didn't see him get up, not even to go to the restroom (unless he went to a different one than I did at the same time as I). I didn't even hear him speak during that time. He was quiet. Maybe in shock during those 3-hours. But all his friends were making a lot of noise. One thing for sure; I would gladly wait 3-hours to get paid $1M.

If you play at Aria or Cosmo, enroll in their quickpay/fastpay program so your money is immediately available on your machine so you don't have to wait for an attendant to come and pay you. You can cash our your tito at your convenience.
