You know how I keep saying my husband isn't right in the head?

Surprise bike trip-Deal's Gap-I blame my husband

Yeah so....he's been working on the house since winter finally ended and I think he's totally lost his mind. We had planned to go to Seneca Niagara for a few days, little budget friendly, relaxing break. He shot that down a few weeks ago saying he wanted to keep working on the house and he didn't want to spend the money on a short trip. He said he'd rather go in November. Fine.

Saturday night he tells me I've got a week to get my $hit together because we're going on a "bike trip" (I use quotes because we're hauling the bike down there with the bike/utility trailer) to Deal's Gap in North Carolina. He's in charge of everything. All I have to do is pack. It's basically the same trip he's been on with the guys.

I have some concerns about how my body will handle sitting in the car for the 11+ hour drive down there and the on and off the bike once there. He says we can take our time, relax etc. He only has a week off but I have the following week off too. I'll have some recovery time but, I do have a retreat in Michigan the following weekend before I head back to work.

    Wish me luck!

Good luck. I have spent 11+ hours on the back of a bike many times and it ain't pretty. The car should be okay with some stretch breaks.

Maybe you can work out a deal where you go to the Casino and he goes on the bike trip?

We're planning to hit Harrah's Cherokee at some point. Gotta get a casino buffet in there.

Sounds like a good trip to me...enjoy the freedom of the road and the wind in your hair.

One of m Drs says 30 minutes in the vehicle and get out to stretch . Even if it is just one lap around the car. The other Dr says 45 minutes.

Ok, the bike is loaded up on the trailer, we're leaving around midnight. God help me. I really hope my body doesn't freak out. I also hope my husband doesn't trade me to a hillbilly for moonshine and a pig.

    Yeah so....funny story.

The car is sitting at the GM dealer in Franklin NC.

    I blame my husband.

    Good trip otherwise.

Ah...what happened....depends who answers that question.

My husband insisted our car is plenty strong enough to haul the bike on a trailer. I disagreed.

Anyway. Wheel bearings. $780. But, hey, I proved a point without saying anything. That's worth something.

We did tail of the dragon, moonshiner 28, cherahela (spelling?) skyway, and generally rode around. Rained pretty good on the way to get the car. I didn't think I needed rain gear, ha!

We also started a fight at the Family Dollar. We asked the cashier about a restaurant and a guy in line disagreed. That went on longer than it needed to. They were still going at it when we slipped out of the store.

We're home. Just got in. Good trip besides the car incident. I'll do a trip report if anybody is interested. The cats missed us so much that one of them (Max) left me a present on my bed that he made with his own digestive system. I felt so loved as I changed the linens after 16 hours on the road.

Ya gotta love cats. Glad you made it home in one piece!

What I really want to know is how WAS the restaurant?

We ended up at the Chinese place next to the Family Dollar and it was like your regular, local Chinese buffet you would go to if it was close to home (and cheap). My husband is a recovering picky eater. He never used to eat any Chinese. Then he decided he likes what he calls "mall Chinese". Then he discovered most Chinese places are pretty much "mall" type places. I refer you to my past stories about my husband not being right in the head.
