I got a mailer offer today for 4Q for 3 comped, $80 in FP. Offer says not valid holiday weekends. I'm trying to book for my brother and his wife for the Friday of Thanksgiving weekend plus Monday, so 4 nights total.

So I call. "Well...we don't normally allow these comps on a holiday weekend, but we're not that busy at Thanksgiving time, so I can book it." Great! Can you add Monday at the $26 casino rate? "Yes". Great! Can you comp it? "No, maybe a host at checkout".

Can I get a room in the south tower, 8th floor or higher? "That would be $30 higher because those are our new Super Deluxe rooms that just opened this week". Even on a comp? "Let me check". "My manager checked and because of your point total, we can do it".

I don't think I'm paying the extra $30 per using my points, but not positive and right now I don't want to rock the boat. If I am, I won't even tell my brother. I asked what was done to these new "Super Deluxe" rooms. "New bathrooms, new mattresses, new paint and wallpaper".

I have to check in for them and once I do if nobody has posted pictures, I will.

But first, there is Oct, 3 weeks from today!

Interesting info Joe. We were going to change things up and stay at The D this time but part of me wanted to see the new rooms at 4Q. I think I'll wait for your pics first. Sounds like you did a great job of negotiating with them!

Btw, after the two of us both playing dollars there on one card for hours on end and days on end, hubs got the same offer as you. You sure seem to have some pull there.

I'm surprised they left out "Duper" after Super.

With the "super" you get an extra towel. The "super duper" comes with an extra towel and bar of soap.

I'm wondering how much they really re-did in the rooms. They were all looking pretty dated. Like from Buggys day. I haven't stayed there in about 2 years. They would only give me BOGO at casino rate while The D has given me 3 nights comped without a problem.

And check back in 5 years when they will be referring to these rooms as "recently remodeled Super Deluxe rooms"

So just to sum up, they have renovated some of the rooms that were way below standards, and are now charging $30 a night more to cover the cost of the renovations.

That could add up. 100 nights x $30 a night is $3000. That should cover the wallpaper, mattress and paint, and some of the reno work too. 200 or 300 nights and its all paid for.

I also noticed they have quietly started charging for guest parking, $3 a pop, no more free validated parking. Their rates are now on par with The Plaza, with fewer amenities which are included in the Plaza's resort fee.
