    Hey All,

I am just 14 short days from my first trip to Vegas. I have been surfing this board for a while and you have all provided tremendous help. I have the general idea of my plans for the trip. However, I have come across some last minute questions for which I turn to you all for answers. This is the first, but I am sure I will have more. Can I carry a backpack in and around the Strip? Not like a 15 day trail bag, but a smaller pack (LL Bean Day Trekker 25 to be exact). I am using it as a carry on and generally when I go places I carry to old things for my fiance and I for the day. Thanks for the help!!

I always use a small back pack while in Las Vegas. A great thing to store all the small souvenir's we pick up as well as a place to keep a bottle of water handy.

Yes not a problem. I've heard places like Macau are kinda weird about people walking around the casinos with backpacks.

I wouldn't suggest wearing it to Joel Robuchon but wearing it while you're walking the strip should be fine.

What a random question. I'm really looking forward to the next ones. I almost always have a backpack with me. It's a socially acceptable man purse.

    Where are you staying?

Only if you are also wearing flip flops and cargo shorts. You must fully complement the backpack with the official unifomr of the American tourist. Just kidding, I just bought a day pack to take to Jamaica next month, never thought about using it in Vegas. Good idea!

Thanks for all the responses, I knew you guys would help. Capt. Ron, I will indeed be rocking the cargo shorts, I live in Northern Northern New England and I where cargo shorts all winter long, even shovel snow them. Alas, I can not bring myself to where the sandals, but 2 outta 3 ain't bad. As for accommodations, I will be at the La Quinta by the airport for the first two days (we are renting a car and driving to death valley, valley of fire, and Red Rock canyon the first 2 days we are there).. Then onto 5 nights at Luxor, I know it is South strip not central, but I have budgeted taxi/monorail money for the trips up and down the strip. The second weekend, we are downtown at the Downtown Grand, not my first choice, but waited to long ans MSS sold out on me. Thanks again guys and gals!

I saw the light years ago. I used to wear really cheap sandals, but they would fall apart and really stink. My wife finally talked me into spending some coin on decent sandals.

High quality, durable, comfortable. Worth every penny. I have never looked back.

Downtown Grand is real nice. I'd stay there again before I'd stay at MSS. Check out the Sunday brunch at Pizza Rock next to Downtown Grand. Make sure you get to Venetian to look around inside there at St. Mark's Square and the canals.

Just make sure if you're at Cromwell, don't make security suspicious of you're backpack by laying it down for a minute or two while checking out the premises.

I do see them and lots of other bags walking around.

On the other hand, my wife no longer carries a purse most of the time in Vegas, especially if we are about to spend the day walking the strip. Just need and ID, phone and money. Maybe sun glasses.

Water bottle? We walk with it until it is empty and then get another...or another drink at a bar.

Every trip I've been to Vegas I carried a small messenger bag. I carry a small camera in my bag as well as a couple bottles of water so when I get thirsty I can grab a bottle without making a b line to CVS or Walgreen.

Not me, I would never stay at the DTG when compared to MSS. The valet parking only alone would kill any thought of staying at the DTG. No valet for me. That's why I also don't stay at the Fremont.

My wife rocks the Keens.....loves them. For whatever reason she didn't take them to Vegas in August, and decided to wear something new and cute. She wore blisters home. :nono:
