Staying at Golden Nugget, no car so will have to rely on shuttle, taxi, etc.

We've been going to vegas for years so we've been to all the strip and downtown casinos and are looking for other recommendations on our visit...any suggestions and comments would be welcomed.

You're pretty limited without a car. You can take a shuttle from the Fremont to Sam's Town. And then from Sam's town to Harrah's. And from Harrah's to the Rio/Gold Coast/Palms. There are a lot of great off strip casinos. Red Rock, Green Valley Ranch, M Resort, Southpoint. I guess you could get to most of them via shuttles but you will waste a lot of time. Cabbing will be expensive too.

You can always take the Deuce to head to the strip. Bus runs regularly and is cheap.

Best bet for variety is SDX to the strip, then a shuttle to Gold Coast or Rio, with GC, Rio, and Palms all walkable there.

Orleans is a fun place. You can shuttle from the strip.

I like the Orleans. It's always hopping in there. Stayed there two nights a couple weeks ago.

I've been to Sam's. GC, RIo etc and am familiar with the assorted shuttles which I should have said in my initial post.

. I was looking at Red Rock, Green Valley,Sante Fe Station and others. So if anyone has any comments on these or any others to help me pick one to go to let me know why.

I primarily play bj and craps. I know the ride out will be expensive and would also like to know if any of the places you suggest if you have seen cabs so I can get a ride back.

I've learned on the cab deal if you go off the beaten path it is often hard to get a cab back. Thanks

As far as GVR goes, I was there for the first time in May, played 20-30 minutes of craps and started getting some good offers immediately and then in July got some comp nights offered. We stayed there earlier this month on that comp. I really like that place. About 10 miles from the strip, easy freeway drive. Or they have a shuttle to/from MBay but it only runs 4 times a day.

Agree. Will be staying at Orleans this upcoming weekend for a couple nights before moving to the strip for a couple nights. Love the Orleans.

I've stayed at the Orleans many times, and there's almost always been a long line of cabs waiting for fares.

Appreciate the responses. We've been to the Orleans and I agree a great place.

I've narrowed it down to GVR, RR, Sante Fe, South Point so I know VV responded on this. Anyone been to any of the ones I've listed and have you seen cabs for the ride back? thanks again.

Red Rock is a nice change of pace from downtown and fairly easy to get to.

Take the WAX from downtown to Suncoast for $2. Then take a cab from Suncoast to Red Rock. We paid $14 to cab from Suncoast to Red Rock. On the return trip we paid $10 from Red Rock back to Suncoast and then took the WAX back downtown. The WAX bus stops right in Suncoast's parking lot so it's much cheaper than taking a cab all the way from downtown.

The bus ride to Suncoast is a relaxing 15-20 minute ride since they use the express lanes. You catch the bus across from The D valet and then get dropped off outside Binion's on the return trip.

Never had any problem getting a cab at either Suncoast or Red Rock. There were always around 4 cabs waiting outside.
