I usually go the second week of December because it's usually one of the best time for deals, but I checked out PH and they were offering the booking for $300+/night. Last year, I went for $60/night with a fountain view room. WTF is going on? Maybe the site is having issues? :grrr:

    What he said ^^^^^^

I just checked the week of the rodeo and the week after, and the price difference was dramatically different across all the properties.

Pretty sure it's mostly NFR, but there's also a big UFC fight (194) on the 12th that should draw a big international crowd. The Irish love their Conor McGregor.

I love going during the rodeo. Those guys are all like 5 foot 6 6 foot 3 with the cowboy hat.

It must be the UFC fight. The rodeo will drive up prices but not like that, especially at a non sponsor hotel.

I'm going the week after the UFC fight and the rodeo.....some of the lowest rates of the month.

It is something weird with PH specifically.

My PH weeknight rates are through the room for most of December and January. At first I thought maybe they are doing a room refresh/reno and will have limited inventory, but the weeknights are PRICIER than weekends and the week AFTER CES if pricier than the week OF CES.

Maybe they are just changing room furnishings/decor and doing it in blocks only on their least booked weeknights, and thus have way less rooms available. That would be my guess.

NFR and the fight are not changing my other CET rates, so it ain't that

when I first read this post back in mid Sept I looked and saw similar high'ish prices. However, we just booked today for arrival on Dec 12th and had comp offers across all the lower tier CET properties - basically Harrah's through PH, and reasonable low rates at the others. It might be worth checking again.

With all the other props I agree with you. PH weekdays still seem abnormally high to me all weekdays this winter.

I am sticking by my prediction ... they must be refreshing rooms.

For example, I have 3 ph comp nights (last one Dec 6) against 14 Caesars Palace in that month. And my PH weekdays are almost universally more expensive than weekends
