Paris vs Treasure Island vs Harrah's?

Hey all! Hate to bother with another comparison thread but I love the opinions on this board. I am leading up to my first SOLO trip on Sunday 9/20-Weds 9/23. Thought I was going to do downtown but I figured I would miss the Strip too much. I am 27 years old, do Vegas every 2 months or so. I am low roller, so I dont look to gamble for 12 hours a day but play slots a good deal, and would like to play where all of my donations to the machines might pump out a free night or two for my next trip...

I will make the decision but have some good deals in front of me. Anyone with past experience with Treasure Island's players club please chime in!


1.) Paris - Red Room High Floor ($360 total) or Standard Deluxe ($320). Is it worth the Red Room? The Deluxe Room TV being off to the side and the old armoir seem strange. Love the location across from Cosmo

2.) Treasure Island - Deluxe ($250 total) - never have stayed or played, love to do something new. How is the casino though? Do they send teaser offers for average slot play or do they think they are similar to MLife and comp like Monte Carlo would?

3.) Harrahs - Mardis Gras King ($180 total, room with tv in the bathroom) - Stayed before but I always feel like the casino is tight.


Having the SDX bus close to Paris and TI is a benefit for both of them - but Harrah's is ridiculously cheap even with resort fees.

 

CET is easier to get room comps from than MLIFE. You're better off staying and gambling at Harrahs or Paris if future room comps are your goal.

 

Before we even go into the choice, where are you getting these rates? Do you have a TR card?

You say you have stayed at Harrah's before and are a slot player, but what you are posting looks like the rack rate for tourists. If you have done any serious slot play for them, sign into their website and bring up the availability calendar. The rates should go way down and since it is sun-thurs may even show as COMP.

If you have already done that or if you've never played with your TR card, let us know. But if your slot play at CET won't get you offers on a Harrah's room Sun-Thurs last minute, it will get you nothing at TI.

I'm a very low roller and as of this second red room shows as COMP for me for those nights. 2 of the 3 nights are comp at caesars in fact.

CET has its organization issues, but the one place that it is 1000% better than any of its competitors is the website and rate calendar.

 

Nevyn - I haven't played at CET props in a LONG time. I mostly stay at Cosmopolitan and have gotten my fair share of basic offers from them. I was thinking of going the CET route for all of the rate calendar reasons you mention Now the totals I put in my post were room rates plus tax and resort fees.. So $180 at Harrah's when you factor in the inevitable $90 in resort fees isn't too bad. It is $32/night average. I do have my CET card loaded, so those are the discounted rates on top of the discount. No comps because I dont play with them.

Red Room is about $80/night before tax, TI at about $65/night before tax but NO resort fee on the promotion booked.

I am leaning Paris because I do love to spend time at Cosmo - but that $150+ extra it will cost to stay there goes a long way for a solo traveler eating and drinking.

I guess my main question is..Would you pay $100 more to stay at Paris, or almost $100 less to stay at Harrah's or is TI worth a 1st time visit and do they treat slot players as well as CET? I am familiar with the offerings at all of the places so I only posted to get some real life experiences with staying and playing Thanks all!

 

If I were you I would decide between Paris and harrahs. I personally am not a fan of Paris. i would base your decision based on where you want to hang out. I like harrahs as I like to play at Caesars Mirage and Wynn.

How much do you like to move around? Is there a need to play where you stay? For CET props it certainly won't matter as long as you 'stay within the family'. And if you are giving up on Cosmo, you could always no play them if they'll give you a decent deal.

I think TI at its price is a better value than Red Room at its price, but its a way bigger risk for future offers. Between that and your desire to be close to cosmo, it is sounding like Paris is the winner. What do you Bally's rates look like? Or do you hate that place. I think its a nicer room than Harrah's, closer to cosmo, and you can still do your play at Paris or Flamingo if you don't like the casino.

 

I've been stalking the calendar and caught my room drop $30 to $337. Definitely sweetens the deal. I prefer Paris over Ballys. Do you think the Red Room is worth the extra $20/night over the Blue room? The older rooms seem a bit dinged up.

 

I haven't stayed in the red room. I'm probably not the best to ask anyway as I've never been able to justify paying more for an upgraded room, especially when solo.

 

I would stay at Harrah's for the cheaper rate. But i would spend most of my time at Paris, and then in your case, Cosmo which is across the street. If you don't have a TR card get one, then use it. I'm staying at Flamingo in November, but will do most of my gambling at Paris/PHO. The important thing is to get a CET card.
You can save money by staying at Harrah's and then use the money you save for bigger and better things at other properties. I am a CET guy, i stay wherever i get the best rates, knowing that my stay doesn't dictate where i play.
