My last Vegas trip ended with me getting a big fat ZERO for hitting 4 deuces playing deuces wild. I got my fair share of wild royals and 5 of a kinds, but no 4 deuces. Of course I had a losing trip. I did get 4 aces without a kicker playing DDB. I usually like to play DB or DDB but have been playing more DW lately. The main thing I hate about DW is all the natural 4 OAKS I get and the drought of 4 deuces. I think I'm going back to DB and DDB and playing DW sparingly.

I usually play whatever game pays (theoretically) the best. Sometimes, that's either FPDW or NSUD. Deuces is not very interesting compared to some others, so if another game pays about as well, I'll practice that also and play both.

I play it since its always a good time killer for me. I find the frequent pushes of getting my money back on a a draw keep me chugging along a lot faster. You arent nearly as likely to hit a home run with a big hit. But i find the pace of the game to me in my favor with a pretty solid chance of at least breaking even.

How is variance of DW vs DDB, DB or Bonus? Considering full pay machines to make everything equal.

My issue with deuces is it more difficult for me to memorize the pay tables and I would need to brush on on strategies so I often ignore them.

I tend to play games with less variance hence why I will play Bonus at a lower payout vs DB on a higher if it is within 1%.

I play it because my money seems to last longer and most times I actually get 4 deuces eventually. I always play 3/5/10 lines though, hardly ever a single line. Try DW with Dream Card. I've had a lot of success with that. Just bear in mind you can change the Dream Card if you wish. Not everyone realises that and the machine doesn't always give you the best one as I found out.

According to wizard of odds, DW is lower variance than DB or DDB. Rounding off, DDB is around 42 and DW is around 25. JOB is 19. DW is not as volatile as DDB. When I was in Vegas a couple weeks ago, Gold Coast had a promo day 40x points. It had a cap on it and I don't remember what it was but I played $.25 JOB 9/6 until I hit the cap. I hit no 4OAKS but obtained my goal only losing $20. If I were playing DDB with no 4OAKS it would have cost me a lot more.

Offhand since I'm on my phone.

    Pickem...14
    JoB...19.5
    Bonus...21
    Deuces...25
    DB/Joker Kings or better...28
    Boner Deluxe...32
    JoB STP...34
    DDB...42
    TB+...44
Super DDB (often CETs best game king), JoB Double STP, Double Deuce...51
    Super Aces..DDB STP...63
    AC Joker/ Loose Doose...70
    DDB Double STP...90
    TDB...98 for 9/7...100 for 9/5

I'll be interested how close I am on some of these. Lol

This is my issue. I have the habit of playing the "best" game. Otherwise I probably never touch it. It doesn't help I'm zero for lifetime on quad deuces at quarters over a couple of cycles. The game hates me...lol

Thanks, maybe I should memorize dw pays.

Interesting pickem is so low since everytime I played full pay @ fremont I get destroyed. Sample size is small mayne $60 or $80 but it would have been more fun if I set em on fire instead!

One doesn't need to memorize the paytables. Just look up the casino on VP Free, find the best paying game, and learn or print out the ideal strategy for that game. Take along a copy of the paytable just to make sure you're playing the right machine.

I have had numerous quad ducks, and they have been the difference between winning and losing on some days. Still looking for my first natural royal, though, so I'm behind lifetime.

DW makes your money last while you get those drinks at the bar. Many times I cash out when I get up to 50% of my buy in and start all over again. DW VP strategy is simple and that dealt royal could pop up anythime.

And for regular deuces wild, there is generally only 3 paytables worth worrying about.

Full Pay - quads are 5 for 1. (These are often blatantly advertised too.)
"Not So Ugly Ducks" - 25/16/10/4/4/3
    "Airport Deuces" - 25/15/9/4/4/3

Anything worse, you're likely better off playing another game in that casino.

It's also worth noting that there are significant strategy differences between Full Pay and "Not So Ugly Ducks"/"Airport".

Wow, I always thought DW was a very volatile game, even more so then DDB. Guess I need to do a closer look.
BTW. Are there any DW STP/DSTP machines at .25+?

"Illinois"/"Airport" are the same. I just like saying "Airport" because it makes me think about flying back to Vegas.

Of course this paytable no longer exists at McCarran, quarter deuces there is currently 25/15/10/4/3/2 = 94.82%. :(

Finding "Airport"/"Illinois" Deuces in Illinois is a pain in the ass now too. Harrah's Joliet has it on their dollar STP machines though.

Currently one of the most common Strip paytables is nicknamed after another state, "Colorado" = 25/16/13/4/3/2 = 96.77%.

I like deuces for a change up. Plus my last natural royal was on a deuces machine.

For me, deuces is one of the harder ones to play, correctly. (Coming from someone who used to play 10/7 DB)
