If it is anything like a CET Diamond Lounge, it will be the first place within MGM that does it. They have some half assed lounges/check ins, but NOTHING like a Diamond Lounge anywhere in the MGM system.

The article says its for skysuites. Dont they have their own checkin and brought in by limo through the back entrance? Why have a second lounge?

SkySuites have their own ci and a loung. It's very quite and next to the skysuite elevators. Why build something new inside the casino. Doesn't make any sense.
Will be there in nov. and will report.

Yeah, the article is wrong. I asked my host about it when I was there last month. She said it will be a checkin and lounge for invited guests NOT staying in the skysuites

i told them it has nothing to do with the sky suites, its a vip checkin and lounge up front, this what i reported to vegas bright ,@paperposter also informed us:

Aria’s new VIP check-in and lounge, similar to Caesars diamond lounge, will open by their front check-in sometime in November. It will be both a check-in, and a lounge to relax in.

Two new restaurants are opening on the second-floor. One will take the place of the old Gold Boutique. The Duece Lounge will reopen in the next couple of months as a regular lounge. Haze will reopen early next year with a new name, as a new smaller boutique club. Sounds to me that it may be similar to what Hyde is.

The new restaurant taking over the old Gold Lounge is Herringbone, which has been reported about for months.

As to the new check-in area, agreed that the idea of it being for SkySuites makes absolutely zero sense. I suppose I buy the idea of it being an invited guests lounge, but then does that mean they're knocking down the former invited guests desk? Or is it only limited hours? It just strikes me as an enormous amount of space for something like that (and I hate how those walls back into the gaming area). I know Bellagio has a similar sort of lounge, but it's discrete and they didn't take away casino floor space for it. I really don't understand the plan here.

yes one is heeerboneing bone the other on the second floor is from a top cheff from nyc i just for got his name.

i had nothing to do with the sky suites part.i havent seen any construction going on over there. but yes the vip check in lounge will be were the big black wall is now, im told it looks great

if your checking into the sky suites they will take you over there by limo so that hasnt changed to check in

i think the new lounge makes perfect sense, keeps you close enough to the casino floor but still gives you a break if you want to relax

The other one is Carbone, which isn't notable so much for being from a specific chef as it is being from Major Food Group (Mario Carbone, Rich Torrissi, and Jeff Zalaznick). They basically rotate amongst themselves for naming restaurants; NYC has Carbone, Torrissi Italian Specialties (which recently closed for a revamping), and ZZ's Clam Bar, and then also Parm and Dirty French. Their food is phenomenal and their restaurant operations are top notch.

I agree, it seems like a lot of space for a checkin lounge. And I did not think to ask my host what will happen to the invited guest desk at checkin. My guess is it will go away

In thinking about it more, it makes sense to keep the invited guest desk for those in the middle (like myself), who don't qualify for a lounge check-in but are higher status than the normal check-in line. I think even the MGM properties that have lounges (like Bellagio and Mirage) still have an invited guest line or an equivalent.

Still seems like a huge amount of space, though.

Actually, it sounds like it most resembles Cosmo. They have the VIP checkin, another smaller room for affiliated guests (in their old VIP checkin room), and the front desk. But hey, since I am not a slot player, I don't are if slot space goes toward something else

Bellagio has a similar set up, one for for VIP, another for those who straight book a Penthouse or above and their Invited Guest desk at the end of the regular check-in.
It looks to me that MGM is pushing Aria as its premier overall property. Tha Mansion of course being an entity to itself but, otherwise Aria is getting lots of love from the corp.

Didn't realize Bellagio has two rooms. I've only seen/used the VIP checkin next to the conservatory
