    My Trip Report

I'll be driving solo tomorrow to Kansas City, MO from Iowa (about a 2.5 hour drive) to visit the KC area casinos for the first time!

Although I'll be staying at Harrah's due to their excellent $70 room offer, I will be hitting up the Argosy for a loss rebate promotion, and the Ameristar for some DB+Prog bartop video poker.

I really wanted to stay at Ameristar, but just couldn't justify paying 2x as much for a room that I'll probably only be in for 6 hours. My plan is to hit up Argosy for their promotion first thing - hoping to arrive around 3pm. I'll read through their terms on the loss rebate and play some table games there. I'm not quite sure how the rebate works, so I'm going to go in with a high amount of suspicion. After Argosy, I'll drive over to Harrah's to check in and drop my things off, then head over to the Ameristar. Both Ameristar and Harrah's have a $65 NLHE tournament that I may or may not play. Regardless, I will be doing some serious VP at Ameristar. Their website also says they spread several types of live poker games, but we'll see what gets off the ground on a Thursday.

Bankroll is $1k - but if the loss rebate seems legit then I'll set aside some extra money for the corresponding variance. I'll be meeting up with some extended family on Friday night, so I will officially have 27 hours to get myself into and out of shenanigans.

If I can figure out Tapatalk I will post some photos too!

That's hundies all the way down! Okay maybe some 20s. Okay maybe some 5s too, but it's a solid 1k brick!

Hit up lakeside on the way to Kansas city. Net loss of 20 + 15FP. Gross win of 0. Hopefully left all my bad luck in Hawkeye country. Just checked into harrahs.

Played crapless craps for the first time last night and had a lot of fun. When my roll came up there were only 3 of us at the table. A lady comes up and buys in $300. After I establish my point she bets ALL the numbers. Well I go on a tear making 3 points, the all small, one away from the all, and wound up making $100. Lady at the end of the table made about $800 and promptly told the waitress she was buying me a cocktail. Win win.

Headed to the Ameristar and was a bit disappointed. Poker room was only running 1/2. Played $100 through the DDBprog but no dice. After maybe an hour I made it back to Harrah's and stayed there the rest of the night.

Finally settled into the 1-2 game at Harrahs. There were a few super aggro guys on my left, but just couldn't find a good situation to let them stack off. At one point we had a 4bet shove and 2 callers with 87, 88, and 99.

The 37 steakhouse at Harrah's was excellent. They have spicy candied bacon that is out of this world.

Also tried a new game TX shootout. I am still undefeated! Made about 100 before coloring up to 205. Bet the extra 5 on another players bonus and hit a full house for like 20.

We really enjoy Harrah's KC. Nice rooms, nice casino (little small). If you give them some good play, you'll see some nice offers back.

Yeah they keep reaching out to me after I pissed $100 away at high card flush last July. $50 room with $20 food. Not too bad for a flea.

Sucks you couldn't take advantage of that poker game TX. Sounds like a nice scenario for those that can pick up a hand.

Got my ass handed to me playing PGP yesterday. Even had a dealer who made mistakes. Pushed my AT98542 vs AKJT763. Later dealer played A*KQJT7 as KQ-A*JT7. Not 100% sure what the rule is, but pretty sure if you can make both hands better then you would.

Had another situation where I had A-7 v dealer 5. Dealer skipped my action and as she was turning over an Ace I told her I hadn't acted. I definitely need to work on my timing. Unfortunately I double and get an 8, while the pit boss asks if I still wanted to double. He and dealer were not on the same page. Dealer rolls over a ten and collects my chips while pit boss says nothing. I just picked up and left.

Overall lost $300 gambling. Absolutely killed it in craps but video poker got expensive very quickly. Harrah's was by far my favorite.

Yeah, those double deckers typically seem more smoky for sure.

And yeah I think that PGP dealer messed up.

    K*xxx up top
    And
    Ax bottom

    I would think.

    Didn't hit up argosy?

Dealer played that one incorrectly in PaiGow...as you thought, she should have had A7 on top and a straight on the bottom hand.

I did hit up Argosy and liked the place. The loss rebate is effective separately for slots and table games, $500 each. Unfortunately I probably wouldn't have made it back KC to cash in free play, but broke even there anyway.

Argosy is certainly a smaller casino, but it looks brand new. Unfortunately no decent vp!

It's more difficult to get comped at the Horseshoe's attached hotel, as it's much smaller (and not branded as part of Horseshoe). There is a shuttle that runs between Harrah's and Horseshoe.

Harrah's was remodeled a couple of years ago, but is very small (they moved from a boat to a land-based casino built from former conference space). The crew there is, in general, awesome, but again - small casino.

To be clear, I'm local (Omaha), so have spent time at all three Council Bluffs properties.

So a few days ago I booked my room for Harrah's Council Bluffs for a $65 rate. I check TotalRewards today, and what do you know, the price was $0! I called the casino to see if I could take advantage of the comp and cancel my current reservation, and they did so with no problems! I'll be leaving Tuesday afternoon for CB, and I'll report back in this thread on the state of the Omaha area casinos.
