Visiting family. Aunt's boyfriend has a nice lakeside cottage, and is from a finnish family. Its become a bit of a tradition to visit them over labour day.

So I expect a fair amount of some combination of drink, sauna, jump in lake, repeat.

Nothing. Or, as close to nothing as possible, given the chores I'd like to accomplish. Making & freezing pesto for the winter. If it ever rains, I'd till the garden, but it's rock hard at the moment, so, no fall planting for me. I assume my husband is going to go fly his RC plane at some point and I'll crank the music and make a mess in the kitchen then :evillaugh Sitting on the patio with some rose, reading a good book. I said I'd do "traditional" and grill burgers (yes, actual beef, which I rarely eat) and serve potato salad (to my husband - I don't like white potatoes, never have - I'll make corn salad and eat that!) Take the convertible to the library to pick up new books.

Spending the weekend with friends who are basically family. I'm the resident weekend chef so I'll be busy working the grill and smoker:
Friday dinner will be grilled shrimp and veg served over salad with a bloody mary vinaigrette
Saturday dinner will be ribs, my world famous sweet & spicy baked beans, and coleslaw
Sunday dinner might be beef and chicken fajitas

Busy weekend cooking for the "fam" and other friends-- i enjoy every minute of it!

Play safe this weekend and don't forget to buckle up!

    Cheers,

    Mike

Heading to Madison, WI tomorrow for two nights. Friday, just bumming around the campus watering holes and then dinner with friends who live there. Saturday, heading out for the largest farmers market in the state, at 5 AM, then at 1 PM they put on the Taste of Madison. About 75 different restaurants serving smaller portions and reasonably priced.

Really quite organized. The farmers market takes place on the square sidewalks of the state capitol square. Meanwhile, the vendors for the Taste are setting up in the streets of the capitol square. If you have every been to an outdoor event with people, strollers, coasters etc wandering all around, this is quite the opposite. It's on the square and everybody (few exceptions) walks around the square counter clockwise, so everybody is going in the same direction. My wife grew up in Madison and says that is just the way it has always been done. Very impressive the first time I saw it a few years ago.

Staying at my SLC home and doing chores so as to avoid the busy roads and events. Then, I'll be back in Las Vegas when the crowds leave. Anyone else see what the temps in Las Vegas will be? Yep, 100 F and under from here on out. By the end of the month, it'll be downright comfortable again.

    I LOVE STATE STREET!

Spent a lot of time up there, then spent more when I had a kid there for 4 years!

Shame that we are on a diet, or we would see you up there!

Spending the next couple days cleaning the house, doing laundry and packing our bags. Then flying across Canada to the Maritimes for a 10 day trip to end our summer. We'll rent a car and visit Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick. Looking forward to good food and great music. Weather's still looking good too!
