    So...

I searched VMB for this, and didn't really find anything.

The reviews on Yelp, etc., are 50/50...people seem to love it or hate it. We're gonna try it one night while we're in town.
We aren't expecting high end Italian cuisine...we know it's pretty much spaghetti and meatballs.

But, is it decent? Seems like a fun place with local old school flavor. Can anyone who's been there comment one way or the other?

You have the best username!! If you are going for the food and wine.....definitely skip Battistas but if you are going for a cheesy unique experience, it will fit the bill. Food is edible but nowhere near good. The wine is really bad!

    Ha ha, thanks!
This is what I've heard. I'm not physically capable of eating a lot of food, so maybe some garlic shrimp (we've seen the menu) will fit the bill. Free wine is free, lol...and plenty of William Hill chard and Vodka back at the room. That's what I'm talkin about!

It'll definitely be a fun experience if you aren't expecting too much.

    Gritty Alfredo
    Soupy sugo
    Mushy Parmigiana
    Instant cappuccino
    Horrid house wine

    But maybe that's what good Italian is. I don't know, I'm Danish-German, mostly. ;)

It's not a bad place at all. The house wine is drinkable for me and my wife; we're not wine snobs. Stick to red sauce basics and you'll be fine. My wife had the salmon a few years ago and it was very good.

The instant cappuccino is really sweet.

A better place for red sauce italian is http://www.bonannosnewyork.com/ but it lacks the cheese factor of Batista's.

Hahaha, I'm German. The BEST Italian food I've had in my life was at a place called "Roma", in Rotenburg Ob Der Tauber last year.

Used to go every trip. The experience has gotten stale for our group after 10 plus visits. You'll have fun if you've never been. It ain't fine dining but it makes up for it in ambiance. Definitely a place that's more fun if your with a group. Gordy was still on the accordion in late April.

I know I've posted on it before.

I'm in the 50% that like it.

Very very old school. Mostly traditional Sicilian red sauce dishes. Good old Jersey soul food. :) :) :)

I love Battista's! No it is not the best Italian food you will ever eat. It is better than buffet food for sure. You go there for the experience. When you go in it is old school vegas. There are pictures of all of the stars who have been there all over the walls. You expect the rat pack to come walking around the corner at any second. It is kitch and it is fun. One of those vegas experiences everyone should do once before it is gone. We go just so Gordy will play us the Ohio State fight song when we tell him we are from Ohio. And make sure to give him a buck!

I stick to red sauce basic things in Italian restaurants so I can't comment beyond that. Chicken parm or spaghetti and meatballs. There is less to go wrong with them.

My wife has been calling me a wine snob lately as I've been turning my nose up at the $7 bottle of wines on the clearance rack.
