I just booked a comped room for 2 nights at a CET property. All went great...until I read the registration letter that says I have to pay $40.00 for a third person. What do I do? I have never had any issues before with 3 people in a room for the comped rate. Do I pay the fee or hide the "3rd Wheel?"

I agree don't say a word. The only downside is they wont be able to get a replacement key if they lose one but no biggie.

Thanks everyone...I was leaning towards that...but I needed some positive affirmations.

What does the extra person cost the hotel? Not much.
Don't pay and get three keys.
    Enjoy

I'd pay personally.. Since I'd feel guilty if I didn't. Too each their own though.

Ask for four keys at registration, give the 3rd wheel two keys.

I was wondering. If a video rental store (or internet video rental site) charged $1 extra for each person watching a video, would you be honest, and pay $2 extra if there were three of you?

I would be inclined to pay the extra amount if I was given something extra for having the additional person, like more amenities or square footage, but I don't think I get anything extra.

Have hotels ever kicked anybody out for having a third person in a room when you claimed only two? How would they know that a friend isn't just visiting who has another room? I suppose security can monitor when the friend leaves the room, but it seems like more trouble than it's worth.

For those motel/hotel with breakfast included, I would think adding extra person does add extra cost to the hotel.
But for a Strip hotel, I don't think a third person will have any real impact on the cost to the host.
I would not pay for it.

I've never paid the extra before, it's an absolute rip off. I had four in a room at mirage once and was able to get four keys at check in no problem. I get there's always anyways because I keep one in my wallet because I'm always leaving my main key in the room

Ballys didn't say anything when I was there in June, 3rd person was standing right there at check in. $40 seems excessive anyways. I could see it if they had to roll another bed in there or something
