After that start I would have headed for the nearest bar and ordered a triple.

    Wishing you a speedy recovery!

really....you have no idea how lucky you are..... Losing that kind of money and personal papers along with your wife doing the same thing...just amazing that it all came back to you.

You both must've have been VERY excited to arrive in Vegas! That's understandable. Just glad everything worked out for you.

Holy Crap! I left my cellphone on a video keno machine at Harrahs a couple years ago and went to bed only to figure it out after getting back to the room..that was 2 hours of panic for me before they finally called and told me someone had turned it in. I can't imagine the panic you went through having all of your stuff in limbo like that.

Hoping great luck the rest of the way.

Holy shit. You are both so lucky. Can't imagine how frantic you were. This is why I wear "cross body" purses when in Vegas. They aren't the hottest or sexist purses but the only way that purse and everything in it (e.g. ,money ,ID, CC, et.c) winds up leaving me is if someone were to mug me and pull it off of me over my head. I feel so much better when gambling, in a cab or just walking the strip when I have a cross body purse. I literally feel more stressed if I have a purse that you have to hold in your hand that I could leave by accident somewhere or someone could snatch.

So glad you lucked out. Now, win some money, have a good time and put the stress behind you!

That story was starting to remind me of the Jack Lemmon movie.."The Out of Towners".

If you've been traveling for many years, most of us have some sort of versions of your horror story. My worst vegas one was earlier this year when I left a laptop at the tsa check in when I was leaving LV. Took the tram back and retrieved it from TSA office. Boring by comparison. But, it gets the adrenaline moving.

Wow that is one crazy way to start a trip.
Mentally that $3800 was long gone. Since you got it back maybe you should go a bit crazy with it.

It is worth it to pay the DMV $15.00 to for an ID card to have as a backup if a driver's license is lost.

So happy to hear that a bad situation ended up being a good situation. Thank goodness for the honest cab drivers. Have a wonderful time in Vegas...lady luck seems to be on your side.

I'd have to check here in MI, but I don't think they will issue a State ID and a Driver's License. Last year I lost my license on Day 2 of our trip. Luckily I had a photo copy of it in my cellphone wristlet that I use for walking.

Having a great trip! Gambling is going poorly, but like someone said, that money was gone and I never would have guessed we'd get it back.

Really though, the Worst part was the total mental drain it caused. I've never felt so mentally exhausted.

Big mistake on my part! Won't happen again.

Wonderful that you are having a great trip. Understand the mental drain.

My only one comparable was backpacking in Germany. I had to check out of my room and did a day trip by train before heading by another train to next destination. When I arrived at first destination, I thought it would be smart of me to put my bag in a locker at the train station so Ididn't have to schlep it around. It wasn't until down the tracks after my day trip, I realized I was a little light in my carry on:) After going through a few train attendants in their broken English and my non existent German, I was able to figure out a train schedule that would get me back to my bag and then onto another train to my final destination. I wasn't worried about losing anything but a complete waste of about four hours and train hopping in a foreign land.

Sorry that happened but glad you got it all sorted out... I left my Passport on a Train in Europe once. It dawned on me just as it was about to leave.
I jumped on the train while someone stood in the doorway preventing it from closing and sending me down the line to parts unknown ha-ha.

Checked my bags with the Bell Captain at Wynn once and went to get a bite to eat. I had checked a small carry on with all my money inside.
Received a call that our room was ready and we went to get our bags. Everything was fine but still a bit nerve racking.

    Wow! What a crazy start!
I think it's safe to say all your luck for you trip was used up!! Hopefully I'm wrong!

I left $600 worth of cosmetics in a MAC bag at Caesars in between two Sex & The City slots and walking away. I remembered them about 90 mins later and freaked out. I went to 'lost & found' and nothing had been turned in. I returned to the slots, and there they were still where I left them!!

Also, visited the Peppermill and Downtown with some friends. We were at the Plaza and I went looking for my wallet to start playing and couldn't find it! Lost my mind. Had all my cards, CC, drivers licence and about $500. My friends calmed me down and we tried to recalls my steps. We called the Peppermill and the limo company with no luck. I tried to remember where I had it last but couldn't think. Eventually went back to Caesars with a friend. I had to get the front desk to let me in (as my room key was also in my wallet) and when I walked in the door there was my wallet sitting on the TV bench!!! Then I started to cry... LOL

    Chups

So glad that this story had a happy ending. I know the stress when something like this happens. On our trip last May the wife and I were watching some basketball in the sportsbook at Planet Hollywood on our second night when she knocked over a beer in my lap. We went up to the room so I could get cleaned up and change when she noticed she had left her purse on the chair back at the sportsbook. We rushed back down fearing the worse but a nice lady had seen what happened and noticed my wife had left her purse and held it until we came back. It was such a relief and made the rest of the trip feel like a win even when losing.
